PTA Founder's Day Luncheon

Please join us for the FWISD Council of PTAs annual Founders Day Luncheon and February General Membership meeting. Former Facebook executive and 1989 Eastern Hills High School graduate, Kim Garrett, will be the featured guest speaker.

Nominations and election for the Nominating Committee will also take place during the business portion of the meeting. The National PTA was organized February 17, 1897, in Washington, D.C. thorugh the combined efforts of Alice McLellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst. Texas PTA was organized in Dallas on October 19, 1909, by Ellas Caruthers Porter and the Fort Worth PTA council was started several months later in 1910.
Texas PTA is a statewide, incorporated, non profit, tax-exempt, charitable organization. It is the largest child advocacy organization in the state and supports the work of its Local PTAs and membership through programs and projects benefitting youth. Legislative activity is one method of achieving the goals of the organization. The Fort Worth Council of PTAs is you local support team. Council Board members train officers, strengthen local units, provide mentorship, encourage membership, and connect units with Texas and National PTA as well as with the FWISD. As part of its four regular meetings per year, it also hosts leadership training events in the Fall and Spring and as needed by its local PTA units.
