The mission of the Fort Worth ISD Social Studies Department is to empower all students to become participating citizens with knowledge, skills and attitudes enabling them to make informed decisions in a culturally diverse and interdependent world.

The Social Studies department welcomes all of its teachers to the new 2011-2012 school year.  We hope you had a fun and restful summer.  This year our department is focussing on the new Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), and End of Course testing.  Please visit the Texas Education Agency's STAAR Resources website for more information regarding the implementation of these new standards and assessments by the State of Texas.
