And the award goes to...
RIVERSIDE APPLIED LEARNING CENTER
The Fort Worth Independent School District is proud to recognize Riverside Applied Learning Center for having the Campus Website of the Week for August 27-31, 2012. Congratulations!
"Our website contains parental information regarding how to help your child be successful at school, home and in the community," said Principal Rudy Valdez. "We want parents to talk to us about how we can help their child be successful."
Campus Website of the Week is designed to recognize schools for their online efforts to inform, engage and entertain members of the campus community.
Each month, the District issues a challenge to encourage schools to utilize their campus website to communicate with students, parents and more. Finalists are selected for Campus Website of the Week, with the overall winner taking home the coveted Webby Award.
The challenge in August asks schools to share back-to-school information on the campus website.
The Riverside ALC campus website includes photos and details from Meet the Teacher Night, as well as updated information on faculty and staff.
"Visitors can see school news bulletins and the calendar, get food information, link with the PTA or communicate with the faculty," said Campus Web Manager Will Dehart.
The school hopes the website will promote family and community involvement and further engage parents in their child's learning.
"Our main campus goal is to continue to be an Exemplary Campus," Valdez said. "Our teachers work hard to make sure students know how to read at grade level since reading is the key to success. High order thinking questions are asked, explained and restated to help the child learn. Parents need to learn how to question their children for understanding and comprehension."
