  • The Employee Benefits Department is responsible for providing access to voluntary core benefits for eligible employees and dependents utilizing the advantage of group rates through payroll deduction. 

    Premiums are deducted on a pre-tax basis (prior to the calculation of federal income tax) for TRS ActiveCare Health Plans, dental plans and vision plan provided through Humana Specialty Benefits and United Concordia and Flexible Spending Accounts available through Higginbotham. Employees who select TRS ActiveCare 1 HD employee and/or employee and dependents are eligible to participate in Health Savings Accounts provided by HSA Bank. There are significant constraints to making changes to benefits listed in this paragraph, see Making Changes. 

    Premiums are deducted post-tax for disability insurance provided through The Hartford Insurance Company, portable life insurance through Texas Life Insurance Company, TRS Group Long Term Care Insurance Program and term life insurance provided by MetLife.

    Savings and retirement programs, 403(b) and 457(b), are available through Education Service Center Region 10.
