District Art Show and Senior Portfolio
Posted by Mr. Richards on 3/21/2024Last night, Fort Worth ISD held it's annual District Art Show and District Senior Portfolio Show.
In the District Show, we compete against all Fort Worth ISD Schools (4A-6A) and Mrs. LaForge and I had several winners.
Top 3 Winners in the District Art Show (with category in which they placed):
Ella Chamberlain - Sculpture
Yareli Gutierrez - Mixed Media
Mya Mendez - Mixed Media
Mya Mendez - FibersAlso, the Top 10 Senior Portfolios were announced. Over 140 seniors submitted their portfolios for the district show, and from there the Top 10 are selected for an exclusive show at a private gallery on April 11th. At that show, the Top 3 winners will be announced and win scholarships. Little WHHS had 20% of the Top 10 for the 4th straight year, a big accomplishment competing against schools with six & seven art teachers.
The following seniors at WHHS submitted portfolios:
Angelica Massie, Elle Chamberlain, Dorian Leyva, Mya Mendez, Idaly Ramirez, Yareli Gutierrez, Belle Galvez, & Jimmy Rangel
Congratulations to Belle Galvez and Jimmy Rangel for making the Top 10 this year!!!
Belle & Jimmy will advance to the Top 10 show and compete for a Top 3 spot and District Champion.
Below are their submissions. The first pics are Belle, then Jimmy's. If you see any of the above-mentioned kids, please give them some congrats!

Cowboys of America
Posted by Mrs. Laforge on 1/23/2024Students attended a workshop at the Will Roger's Coliseum on Monday as part of a series of workshops offered to students through Imagination Fort Worth. Students were taught by the Cowboys of America group. Students learned to sculpt and draw from real live animals that were brought into the area to study the anatomy and movements of the animals.
