Spring 2019
February 8, 2019
The tennis team competed in the Varsity Boswell tennis tournament on Friday, February 8th. Play didn't start until almost 11am due to temperatures being below 30 degrees. Isabel Palmaores and Tay Johnson endured the cold to get second in the girl's A doubles consolation bracket. The most exciting part is they beat two girls doubles team from our district, Lake Worth and Diamond Hill, if they continue at this rate they have a chance to perform well at our district tournament in April.

Friday, February 1st, kicked off the tennis team's first tournament of the spring season. Isabel Palamores and Tay Johnson competed as a doubles team in the I-30 Winter Slam Varsity Tournament. We were able to play one round before the rain, they played very well, but fell short to a very experienced team. This put them in the consolation bracket. Right after they finished playing the tournament was put on hold due to courts being too slick, after several attempts and rain delays the tournament was ultimately canceled. Our next tournament will be Friday, February 8th at Boswell.Area-Fall 2018

After a week of rain, we had a small break and actually saw this little yellow ball in the sky. The athletes said it was the sun, but I'm not convinced. Tennis competed yesterday in the area competition. This means we advanced past district and bi-district. This was a big deal to these students who have not made playoffs as an entire team. I want to personally thank the Cougar Pride Foundation for supporting us and making the event special for the students. I am so proud of how hard the athletes fought yesterday. Unfortunately, we did not beat Argyle, they are a very strong team, but we have new goals for next year.~Coach Gutierrez Galbraith
