Steers Boys Basketball Season 2020-21
Congratulations! to Johnny Perez for being selected to the 1st Team All District Boys Basketball Team!!Also Ernesto De Leon was selected for Honorable Mention!Very proud of these two young men and they will be missed next year but both have very bright futures!!Hello North Side. The North Side Boys had another strong performance last night against 2nd place Southwest. Jesse Benavides put on an impressive 3-point shooting exhibition hitting 6 as well as Ernesto DeLeon and Johnny Perez chipping in 2 apiece. Isaak Rosales turned in his second stellar performance in a row and the team received numerous compliments from opposing coaches and fans about their team play and how much effort they give for their team. Although they came up a little short the respect we have for these young men continues to grow...So as our season is coming to an end, we would like to take this time to thank all the teachers and counselors who have worked so diligently in helping our players complete their work and continue to help them towards graduation. I know they appreciate you as well as the coaching staff!Next game the Poly Parrots!Saginaw...Jan 29th... Score 40-40 ....9 secs left on the clock... North Side's Johnny Perez takes the ball full court towards the winning basket... crossover at half court ... 3 secs, 2 secs ...he let's it fly at the free throw line...1 sec... ball is in the air... The North Side bench is ready for the dogpile that's about to happen... by a milliliter of a millimeter the ball comes up just short.....and The Steers lose in overtime...... But...We can't say enough about our team and their performance led by Ernesto DeLeon's 14 points, Johnny Perez's 13 points and total game performance and the outstanding play of Isaak Rosales' and his 12 points! Proud of their effort and teamwork!!Also the play of our Freshmen b-ballers who are 3-3 and currently 2nd place in the district. The frosh came up short vs. Saginaw Friday but were gallantly led by Kevin Ortega's 14 points, Christian Montoya, and Lorenzo Perez.Next up is Southwest on Wed. Feb 3....... Thanks for listening!!Congrats to the North Side Freshman Boys Basketball team for defeating Southwest Saturday! That hasn't happened in a while.Great job Coach Wheatfall and Coach K. Harrington and the rest of the freshman team. The young Steers were led by A.J. Cardenas 11 pts., Christian Montoya 13 rebounds, Kevin Ortega 9 Pts. , Lorenzo Perez 7 steals, Julio Jaramillo 10 reb and 8 pts and Andrew Ramos 6 pts.
Hey Hey Hey... what cha got to say! ...(sorry that's my favorite Kool and the Gang lyric..) but the North Side Basketball Team WON their 3rd in a row!!The Steers defeated Venus last night 42-37! The team was led by Tim Holland with 13 and Adriel Gutierres 9 pts. Clutch free throw shooting by the cool and suave Dyar Vlasov and Tim Holland helped seal the deal. Team captain Ernesto DeLeon also had his usual stellar game with 8 rebounds and some tenacious defense.Next up is Diamond Hill Friday night.Our JV Basketball Team also pulled out another victory 45-24 being led by AJ Cardenas and Martin Guerra.😎😎Good morning! Quick update on your NS Steers Basketball Team. They made it 2 in a row Friday night defeating Diamond Hill 48-35! The Steers were led by another sterling performance by Tim Holland, 18 points and 8 for 10 FT's. Jesse Benavides also chipped in 3 threes for 9 points and Adriel Gutierrez and Eddie Garcia were close behind with 8 apiece. Nate Rivas also continued his season leading 100% free throw shooting.Our JV Steers Basketball Team also won in spectacular fashion winning 40-15! Martin Guerra led the team with 15 points.Next game is tomorrow at Venus. Bout to make it three in a row!!😳😳A little update for your North Side Steers boys basketball team.Over Thanksgiving break we lost a close one to Castleberry 42-44.....But last night completely redeemed ourselves by beating Dallas Samuell 57-52. The team was led by the hot shooting of Adriel Gutierrez who had six, yes six 😳 3 pointers for 19 points followed by an all around excellent game of Tim Holland, 14 points and 6 assists. Eddie Garcia hit the clinching freethrows with 20 seconds left to seal the deal!Next game is Friday vs Diamond Hill at home. We are planning on a quick victory and then heading to Farrington Stadium to cheer our football team on to a runnerup district championship!!Your North Side Steers Boys Basketball team lost the proverbial buzzer beater last night 42-41. Led most of game but Carter Riverside scored at the buzzer to snatch victory right out of our hands. Tim Holland had a fantastic game scoring 15 points, dishing out 5 assists and grabbing 8 steals. Steers Boys Basketball Season 2019-2020
1/28/20: The North Side boys basketball team defeated Carter Riverside last night in exciting fashion 68-63. The Steers were led by the blazing Jessie Benavides' 8 -3 pointers for 25 points. Also in double figures was Esli Davila, who was literally unstoppable, 15 points, Jesus Nevarez' 10 points and Tim Holland's 10 points and 12 assists and zero turnovers! The night was capped off by Victor Martinez' brilliant Dirk Nowitski step back fade away which brought the house down!
Congratulations North Side basketball. Next game is Friday against the top ranked OD Wyatt Chapparels at Billingsley field house.

1/22/2020: The North Side boys basketball team lost a heartbreaker last night to South Hills in overtime 68-65. The very improved young Steers had a galiant team effort led by Johnny Perez 16 points, Esli Davila 15 points and Jesus Nevarez 15 points, also Tim Holland had 7 points and 11 rebounds and Disan Valles 7 points and 8 rebounds.The Steers will be back in action Friday against Arlington Heights.

The North Side Freshman boys basketball team won their 2nd game in a row defeating Venus last night 38-19. The Steers were led by Eddie Garcia's 23 points.The JV boys won their 3rd game last night defeating Venus 45-18. They were led by Adriel Gutierrez's 12 points, Diyar Vlyer's 9 points and Martin Gurrero's 8 points.The Varsity also pulled out a victory against the Venus Bulldogs 63-38. The Steers were led by Jesus Nevarez's 23 points, Johnny Perez's 20 points , Disan Valles' 11 points and Tim Hollands 12 rebounds and 6 assists.
Your North Side Boys Basketball team won their first round game at the Lake Worth Invitational . The Steers beat Mineral Wells 47-44. Jesus Benavides led the team with 16 points followed by Esli Davila's 13 points and Disan Valles' 10 points. Johnny Perez and Tim Holland also contributed outstanding defense and over all play for the victory. The Steers play Bridgeport tonight at 6:00 for the second round game.
