STOP THE SUMMER SLIDE
Multiple universities and centers for education have conducted research on the correlation between summer reading and learning achievement. The result? Students of today leave for their summer vacation and fall into ‘The Summer Slide’—a period of diminished academic growth. Consequently, this decline in achievement affects our students in multiple ways: (1) they start the next school year behind; (2) they increase their chance of failing multiple classes; and (3) they lower their likelihood of excelling in the work force. We can stop the summer slide by adding just twenty minutes of reading into their day! Please visit the links below for more information on the benefits of summer reading.
