Mr. Austin Caraway
I am a writer, artist, gardener, teacher, parent, and partner. I desire nothing short of revolution to stem from my endeavors. Plenty of people want their rebellions to be at the ends of guns, but that's not love; that's fear and anger, and nothing good ever comes from that. I want us to change the world together. I want minds to bend and hearts to mend.
I am entering my tenth year of teaching. For seven of those years, I taught almost exclusively AP and Pre-AP classes, providing university-level skill-building and content to my students. The determination, creativity, and intelligence that I’ve encountered has been inspiring, to say the least. I don’t always have faith in humanity, but I feel pretty good about our future.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, with minors in Spanish and History, from the University of Texas at Arlington. My academic and social experiences at this institution were absolutely invigorating—I highly recommend that students strongly consider UTA for their university experience. It is a top-notch institution.
This is my second year at Marine Creek. The atmosphere here is unlike any school I’ve taught in, and the opportunities provided for students on this campus truly work toward the ideals of equal access for all and individual growth for each.
I aim to foster a community of learners and leaders prepared to go out into their environments, local and global, with the skills and desire to create workable, regenerative solutions to the problems of the human condition. I want my students to be able to make their world work for them, whoever they are, whatever they have, wherever they choose.
