David West

This is my first year at Helbing as the Data Analyst Lead.  Previously I taught at Trimble Tech High School as the Art 1 teacher along with various other positions and roles.  I received my undergraduate degree from UNT in 2005 and earned my Masters from UTA in 2019.  My wife, Lydia, and I have been married for 6 years and go on adventures of food and geography around the world.  Between Lydia, our joined families, and riding my bicycle I am quite content.

My goal is student success. I intend on using all resources and supports in order to help all students be successful.  Building confidence, grit, and determination within students so they may go on to become successful adults and lifelong learners. I am looking forward to working with the faculty and staff so that we can work together to achieve this goal for the students of Helbing Elementary school.

Ms. Ashley Wood

Hello! My name is Ashley Wood. I received a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas. I am passionate about learning how culture shapes communication in addition to early language development. This is my fourth year providing speech therapy in Fort Worth ISD.

My focus is helping my students communicate effectively through developing new approaches, collaborating with student families and other professionals, and hunting for what works best for the kids as individuals. I hope for my speech room to be a safe space for students to learn and practice strategies, share their ideas, and spread kindness.

General Ed, ESL and Art K-12 Certification

BFA Studio Art, Southern Methodist University

The 2020-21 School Year is my 8th year in education, all with the FWISD.

I grew up in Fort Worth and I’m married and have three great children, a dog, and a cat!

I’ve been fortunate to always know my passion, which is Art and all things about it. Arts Education is critical to developing creative thinking and self-worth. My classroom is often filled with chatter as the students explore materials, create original works using specific processes, practice important motor skills, and more, all while setting their imaginations free.

I am privileged to work with the wonderful Students, Staff, Faculty, and Parents at Helbing!
