Certified Parent Educator | Parents as Teachers

Hello my name is MaryAnn Tijerina. I was born and raised in Lubbock Texas and graduated from Lubbock High in 1978. Two years later I married and started a family. I moved to Fort Worth with my husband Nick and two boys, Felix and Timothy. Once in Fort Worth, I had Tabetha, and much later had Mariah, now a senior at Trimble Tech. I have 3 grandbabies: Timothy lives here; Eric and Emma live in Lubbock with my son Felix. I began to volunteer at H.V. Helbing once my children started school, and stayed there for many years. This volunteer work led to a job with Parents as Teachers.

The Parents as Teachers evidence-based model is implemented by our school district and is offered to families of children from prenatal through Kindergarten. I'm a trained Parent Educator who provides four components for families: Personal visits, developmental and health screening, resource referral, and group connections. Personal visits focus on development-centered parenting, paren-child interaction, and family well-being to promote healthy develoment and learning

Hello!

I am Deyanira Villazana, the Educational Diagnostician for Sam Rosen Elementary. I am very excited about joining the Sam Rosen team.  I am also assigned to another elementary campus and I work with the Special Education Bilingual Team.  This is my 22nd year in education and my seventh year as an Educational Diagnostician.

A little about me:  I was born in Mexico, but have been a Texas resident since the age of four.  I am a product of FWISD.  I received a B.A. in Bilingual Education from Texas Wesleyan University and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Special Education from Tarleton State University.

I am married and have two children.  My son, Roberto, is a recent graduate of University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Computer Engineering and my daughter, Elisa, is in her last semester at University of North Texas pursuing a career in Audiology.

I enjoy spending time with my family, watching movies, working out, and I love coffee.

I look forward to working with you all.
