Ms. Dolly Lowery, M.Ed, MSSC - Professional Counselor
My name is Ms. Dolly Lowery and I am from Gary, Indiana (Home of Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5). I am a first generation high school graduate within my family, adopted 5 children and guardian to my sister with special needs. I have been a proud educator in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex since 2001. In this time, I have had the privilege of being an elementary classroom teacher, Assessment Specialist, Writing Specialist, Administrative Intern, Adjunct Instructor at Tarrant County College as well as a Professional School Counselor (my current position since 2013) here at William James Middle School – home of the Mighty Bears. Outside of education, I work for the WARM Place Grief and Loss Center for people who are coping with death and loss. My passion is enhancing the lives of children socially, emotionally, mentally, academically and personally in a way that will develop them as independent thinkers and doers in life. I believe in “capturing the heart to explore the mind”. As a Solution Focused counselor, my goal with all children is to instill accountable thinking and learning strategies for them to use personally (with character building, individual and group counseling), academically (in school and for college and career readiness), as well as socially (with peer mediation, conflict resolution and restorative practices interventions). As 6th grade counselor, I will work with students on preparing their progression plans for grades 7-8, Youth Voices for Change (YV4C), Vital Link, Student Recognition Chairperson (A-4-A), Leadership Fort Worth Mentor program (LFW), National Junior Beta Club, LeaderKids, Kids Hope Mentor program, UnBound Human Trafficking program, and Breakthrough Fort Worth. I am located in the counseling suite near the auditorium. All counselors will provide suicide prevention lessons, guidance lessons, college and career information and lessons and invite special guests to speak with students on topics related to the district’s INOK themes. If you need to schedule an appointment or speak with us, please feel free to call 817-814-0207.
