Dr. Principal, Myrna Blanchard

My name is Myrna Blanchard, and I have the distinct honor of serving as the principal at North Hi Mount Elementary. This school year marks my nineteenth year in education serving in both public and private schools in DFW as a teacher, assistant principal, central office administrator, and university instructor.

It is no secret that we are a school whose students and staff are committed to learning like a Champion every day by exhibiting our four North Hi Mount goals:

1) Integrity, being the best-behaved students in the state of Texas at school, at home, and in the community; 2) Respect, treating others with care and courtesy; 3) Hard Work, putting a big effort in every task and getting better at learning every day and 4) Leadership, being an example and motivating others through our actions.

The partnerships that have been cultivated between NHM, its families, community partners, and its surrounding area have been invaluable to the growth and excellence that it has experienced. As such, North Hi Mount has become a premier school of choice for families. We are excited to welcome you, and we extend a hand to ask that you join us as we strive to learn like Champions each and every day.

This school year brings a whole new excitement for our students and staff.  We are continuing to build unity throughout our campus through our implementation of our HOUSE system. HOUSES is a teaming/family concept that builds relationships with students and staff on campus. All students and staff draw randomly to be in a HOUSE.  Our North Hi Mount HOUSES are Integridad (Integrity), Esaba (Respect), Ausdauer (Hard Work), and Alaka’i (Leadership).

We want all EAGER EAGLES and their families to feel included and engaged while at North Hi Mount.  Feel free to contact your child’s teacher if you have questions and please remember that our doors are always open.  We look forward to working alongside you in continuing to offer the best educational opportunity for all of our students.

Sincerely,

Myrna Blanchard, Ph.D.

Dear NHM Families,

I am excited to announce that I will be joining the NHM family as your new assistant principal! I feel truly honored to be part of a school that has a long history of excellence in Fort Worth ISD.

I am a product of FWISD, graduating from Southwest High School and when I was called to teach, I came back home. I received my bachelor’s degree from Dallas Baptist University and my master’s degree from the University of North Texas. This year will mark my thirteenth year with the district and my first year in campus leadership.

I am eager and excited to begin this journey with all of you. My goal is to continue the great work NHM is doing in providing a rigorous and relevant education in a positive and nurturing environment.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Kelz, M.Ed.

My name is Nicholas Simmons, and I am the school counselor at NHM.  I’m so excited to meet all of the wonderful families in our community and their children who attend our campus.

I am originally from East Texas, having graduated from Longview High School.  I later graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in English.  My wife and I then moved to Arlington where I would teacher English, among other subjects, for the next five years in Dallas and Fort Worth.  My passion for working with children eventually led me to return to school after my third year in education to pursue a master’s degree in school counseling.

The 2019-2020 school year will mark my first year as a school counselor, and I feel so lucky to find myself as part of such an amazing team.  As a believer in molding students into lifelong scholars, I can’t wait to learn and grow alongside the wonderful students, parents, and staff here at North Hi Mount.

Sincerely,

Nicholas Simmons, MA
