    Colby Allen earned his B.A. from The University of Texas at Arlington and has taught in FWISD for eight years. Beyond simulating industry models in lesson planning, Colby strives to facilitate real world learning through partnerships with local media organizations and internships with local businesses.

    Lori Cerja earned her B.S. in Special Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has taught in FWISD for 19 years. Lori's first priority with her students is to build a positive and trusting relationship. She believes that children can learn and be successful when they know that they are loved, cared for, heard, and accepted.

    Lockheed Martin Chair for Teaching Excellence in Elementary Math and Science

    Ashlie Duncan earned her B.S. in Biology from Midwestern State University, her M.A. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and has taught in FWISD for 13 years. In her classroom, Ashlie strives to embody Maya Angelou's quote: "People will forget what you said, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

    Lockheed Martin Chair for Teaching Excellence in High School STEM 

    Sergio Flores earned his B.S. in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix and has taught in FWISD for three years. Sergio recognizes that students learn differently, and he adjusts instructional methods to meet their needs. He believes that all of his students have an engineer hiding inside of them and that it is his job to help them shine.

    Elizabeth Foreman earned her B.S. in Business Management and Spanish from Virginia Tech, her M.Ed. from UTA in Educational Leadership and has taught in FWISD for four years. Elizabeth's philosophy of teaching is "Our kids can!" She lets every parent know that she works for them and that their child can achieve anything.

    XTO Energy Chair for Teaching Excellence in Early Childhood Education

    Randi Higgins earned her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood from Midwestern State University and has taught in FWISD for 17 years. Randi believes that it is important to encourage children to play, as that is how they learn to problem solve, discover interests, persevere, and become happy individuals.

    Samantha Keaton earned her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from The University of Texas at Arlington and has taught in FWISD for 11 years. As a teacher, Samantha believes she is responsible for creating learning experiences that put students in the driver's seat of their education, and she aims to captivate her students through dynamic storytelling lessons.

    Bradley Leake earned his B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies and his M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Texas and has taught in FWISD for four years. Bradley believes that teaching students to love the process of problem solving is the most important aspect of his role as a teacher.

    Central Market Chair for Teaching Excellence in Acquisition of Language 

    Maria Ortiz-Garcia earned her B.A. in Spanish from The University of Texas at Arlington and has taught in FWISD for eight years. Maria feels that it is her responsibility to ensure that her students feel safe to express themselves in a language that is not their own and to encourage her students to become global citizens.

    Blue Zones Project Chair for Teaching Excellence in Health & P.E.

    Jeff Peters earned his B.S. in Education and Kinesiology from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and has taught in FWISD for five years. Jeff tells his students that they will most likely struggle before they find success but emphasizes that losing is okay because if they continue practicing, they will find success both in his class and in the real world.

    Atmos Energy Chair for Teaching Excellence in Secondary Science 

    Jodi Sarber earned her B.S. in Biology from Texas Christian University and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Texas at Arlington. Jodi takes pride and joy in helping her students learn English through the lens of science, and she enjoys watching her students grow in confidence and knowledge throughout the year.

    Angela D. Paulos Chair for Teaching Excellence in Visual Arts

    Rachel Varney earned her B.S. in Elementary Art Education from Abilene Christian University and has taught in FWISD for 15 years. Rachel believes it is her responsibility to teach her students not only how to make art, but also how to be artists. She hopes that each student in her classroom finds the medium to be the artist that he or she already is.

    Leo Vaughns, Jr. earned his B.A. in English and Music from Texas Christian University, M.Ed in Educational Leadership from Concordia University and has taught at Kirkpatrick Middle School for 28 years. Leo takes pride in his community, and his greatest joy is having strong relationships with his students and their families.

    Brandi Waller-Pace earned her B.A. and M.A. in Music from Howard University and has taught in FWISD for seven years. When Brandi exposes her students to music, she hopes the sensitivity they develop toward music translates into becoming empathetic human beings who will work to make the world a better place, no matter their profession.

    Chris Workman earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Angelo State University and has taught in FWISD from 14 years. Chris aims to embody a lesson that he learned from a college professor -- "Students do not care about how much you know until they know how much you care." He aims to create quality citizens who achieve their dreams through whichever door they wish to take.

    Julia Worthington earned her B.A. in Theatre and Speech from Trinity University, a B.A. in English from Texas Wesleyan University and has taught in FWISD for 40 years. Julia hopes that her theatre students gain skills that will help them realize the delight of finding their voice and expressing themselves with confidence.
