Professor of Mathematics
I am in my 4th year as part of the Comet family. This is my 26th year in education. The first 13 years were as both teacher and coach, primarily boys basketball (district championship at Carter-Riverside HS, 1999). From there I went into administration for a few years, then back into the class room, teaching a variety of subjects mostly math related. I was blessed to be a mid-year replacement in the school's second year and have loved being part of it's growth and development into one of the state's top P-Tech collegiate high schools.
Outside of school responsibilities, I love spending time with family and church activities. The Horton family are campers. We looked to escape the Texas summer heat in the hills of Arkansas or in Colorado's majestic mountains. You can find me at peace experiencing God's serenity, while sitting in my camping chair in the middle of a mountain stream... what could be better! At home, I like to piddle around the yard working on various projects or "honey-do" lists. When I get the chance I like to chase the little white ball around a local golf course with friends.
I am blessed to be married to my bride of 26 years, MaLisa. We have two (now three) wonderful children; Jacob and his bride of two years, Savannah, and Emily. When you have a couple of hours, I'd be happy to brag on all of them!
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men..." (Col 3:23)
