Mrs. Stephanie Burns
I am a native Texan, born and raised in Tarrant County. I love to travel all over the country, but I always come back home. I have been blessed with a very loving and supportive family. My husband of 25 years, Chris, is a senior English teacher at Southwest High School in Ft. Worth ISD. Kristen, my daughter, is a junior at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. She is an Economics major and member of the Lady Ichabod soccer team. I became an "empty nester" this year when my son, Steven, set off for Texas A&M University in College Station to pursue an Engineering degree . While thinking about this not too distant "empty nest", I suggested that it was time for a new challenge. I got what I asked for, and I can truthfully say that I'm looking forward to this new adventure in kindergarten!
August 2020 marks the beginning of my 26th year in teaching. I began this journey as a first grade teacher in Grand Prairie, Texas. Six years later, we moved our little family to Lampasas, in the Texas Hill Country, where I devoted another two years to first grade. In 2001, we moved our growing family back to the metroplex where I would spend the next 17 years as a part of the Burton Hill family. While there, I was able to teach multiple grade levels and multiple subjects. The lessons and experiences of the past 25 years have prepared me become a proud Roadrunner at M.L. Phillips Elementary.
