The Fort Worth ISD Children's Vision Program, one of the Student Support Services initiatives, along with our Health Services department, supports a culture in our schools that fosters and provides services designed to reduce health-related barriers, promote each student’s optimal level of wellness, empower students and their families with the knowledge and skills needed to excel and achieve lifelong health and wellness. In a joint effort with the Alcon Foundation and various community partners, we help serve students’ vision care needs, essential for their health-wellbeing and academic readiness.
The overall focus of the program:
- Strengthen communication to increase vision healthcare awareness for students, parents, and school stakeholders,
- provide vision screenings support, exams, and glasses through in-school services and multi-school events,
- build family self-support and data tracking systems, and
- continuous and robust expansion of vision program services.
