Dr. Terry Guthrie

Principal

Boulevard Heights/Transition Center

It is a pleasure to be serving the students, staff and parents of both Boulevard Heights School and the Transition Center Programs as Principal. I have been serving the students of FWISD since 1999. Before coming to FWISD, I served as a high school resource teacher in Dumas ISD in Dumas, TX. I began my career in FWISD as an elementary self-contained special education teacher at Boulevard Heights in the fall of 1999. After serving in this capacity, I was moved out of the classroom into a consulting role where I served all of FWISD consulting on behaviors, instruction, classroom structure, etc. in special education classrooms. After providing consultative services for 6 years, I became the Teacher/Coordinator for the Transition Center LIFT Program located in the Administration Building. I served in this capacity for 3 years before becoming the Assistant Principal for BHS and the TC Programs. I served the programs as assistant principal for 7 years before being promoted to the principalship. I received my BS in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Special Education from West Texas A&M University, my MEd in Educational Leadership from Texas Woman’s University, and my PhD in Special Education from the College of Professional Education at Texas Woman’s University. I believe that every student has within them the capacity to learn, grow and develop when provided an appropriately tailored instructional learning environment.

Mrs. Matrail Rogers

Assistant Principal

I began my career in education in the fall of 2001. At that time, I served as a second -grade teacher in Waco, Texas at J. H. Hines Elementary. I had just completed my undergraduate studies at Baylor University (Sic’Em Bears!!). In the fall of 2002, I began teaching 5th grade language arts in Fort Worth ISD at Oaklawn Elementary. I taught there for 4 years, and I felt a call to advocate for students in a different way. I obtained a Master's Degree in School Counseling from Amberton University and I was afforded the opportunity to serve as an Elementary School Counselor in Fort Worth ISD at Ridglea Hills Elementary. I served that community for 14 years. All my years in elementary were very precious and I thought I would always serve in an elementary capacity. But God had a different plan, a better plan. I felt led to advocate for students, their families, and staff differently, and I decided to go back to school to obtain my Principal Certification.  I completed the necessary course work at Lamar University. I always thought I would serve in an elementary capacity, so when I received, the call about being promoted to the Assistant Principal at Boulevard Heights and Transition Center, I was beside myself. It happened in the middle of the pandemic, and I could not believe that I was being afforded the amazing opportunity to serve with such an amazing staff. I believe in everything we do here for our students and their families. I believe our students are capable of learning everything we teach them. I could not serve in this capacity without the love and support of my family - my husband (and high school sweetheart) Ralph and our three sons Sam, Eli, and Drew. I lead with compassion, grace and mercy and I always have them in mind when I encounter people in our learning community.

Ms. Tammy Rainey

Secretary

Boulevard Heights has had the pleasure of having Tammy Rainey in the main office since 2007.  BHS is unlike any school in the district, so not only does Tammy carry the workload and responsibilities of any other school secretary in FWISD, she also assists by redirecting behaviors, guiding incidental learning experiences, managing radio communications, and a myriad of other responsibilities that keep people safe and procedures efficient.  Her background of stewardship shows in everything she does.
