In June 2019, the passage of House Bill 3 by the 86th Texas Legislature added half-day formula funding for school systems that add up to 30 instructional days to any of their elementary schools starting in the 2020-2021 school year. This initiative is called Additional Days School Year (ADSY). 

• (ADSY) is available to campuses that meet the requirements below:
• Serve at least one grade level within grades PreK-8th grade
• (2025-26 expanded to middle school)
• Campus academic calendar(s) include at least 175 instructional days with 75,600 operational minutes, not including staff development waivers
• Add up to 30 additional days of instruction in addition to the 175 instructional days in its regular academic calendar
• Have a certified teacher deliver at least two hours of instruction on designated ADSY days
• Host ADSY days separate from the regular instructional calendar days (e.g., ADSY days cannot be hosted in the second part of a regular instructional day)

These extra days are not mandatory but highly encouraged, and for good reason! Students will have the chance to dive into engaging lessons and activities, just like during the regular school year. It’s a great opportunity to keep learning, have fun, and make the most of their ADSY experience. These are days your students won’t want to miss!

Yes, transportation will be provided the same way it would during the school year.

Yes, we will still provide breakfast and lunch for students. 

Our campus has been targeted for improvement by the state and school district. We are initiating this calendar to give our students the opportunity to continue their growth in the summer.

At the July 22 board meeting, the trustees approved an Additional Days School Year calendar for the following campuses:

These campuses will receive more targeted support in the upcoming school year to help continue their growth as campuses.

Students:

Parents:

Teachers:

• Does not require additional staff days within the
• traditional calendar school year
• Voluntary participation in summer enrichment days for additional compensation
• Campus teachers given priority for summer days and then extended to teachers Districtwide

District Staff:

• Support conference days to ensure the continuity of high-quality instruction for students while providing an immersive and engaging experience for parents who choose to participate
• Support summer instructional and enrichment activities; provide transportation and nutrition services

• Accelerate learning in Math and Reading for all students
• Enhance student experiences by providing more time for brain breaks relationship-building, fun activities, and real-world projects
• Individualize instruction and customize professional learning to meet the needs of each student

On November 11, 2025 and February 16, 2026; the 15 approved campuses will offer engaging and hands-on events to inform our families of their student’s academic progress. Parents will participate in student-led parent teacher conference; as well as enrichment activities tailored to supporting families in their child’s academic growth.
