Personal Communication Device Restrictions Policy
In response to a new state law, Fort Worth ISD is implementing a new policy on personal communication devices on school property. These updates align with House Bill 1481, passed during the 89th Texas Legislative Session, which supports limiting cell phone use during instructional time across public schools in Texas.
The guidelines are designed to reduce distractions, promote engagement, and support a safe and productive learning environment for all students. Starting with the 2025-26 school year, FWISD students should, “Put it Away, Learn Today”.
We encourage all families to review the updated policy and FAQ document linked below for details on expectations, consequences, and answers to common questions, including safety protocols, emergency communication, and medical exceptions.
