  • How long will the Fort Worth ISD be closed?

    The District will remain closed until further notice. FWISD is also canceling all activities, including travel for both adults and children, through that time frame. All athletic events, UIL competitions, and athletic strength conditioning sessions have been canceled, as well.

  • Will students have access to online instruction?

    Fort Worth ISD students now have content and grade-appropriate online materials for staying engaged and stimulating learning at home. Visit the FWISD Learning at Home webpage, www.fwisd.org/learningathome for elementary and secondary resources. More detailed curriculum and a process for delving more deeply into student learning will be shared soon. These  instructional opportunities will offer scholars academic pathways to remain steadfast in their learning.

  • Where and when will Fort Worth ISD students be able to receive “meals to go”

    Students may receive “meals to go” from FWISD cafeterias at 18  school locations.  Here is a complete list of locations and times for “to go” meals for students, Monday through Friday during the closure:

    We are working closely with local authorities and continue monitoring the situation; in the meantime, all our regular processes and deadlines are on hold, including graduation ceremonies.

    During this District closure, all regular processes and deadlines are on hold, including the Choices late applications. A very limited number of FWISD employees deemed essential staff is working to support critical needs during the closure.

  • What is social distancing?

    According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, social distancing means remaining out of congregate settings, avoiding mass gatherings, and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters) from others when possible.

  • Are the buildings open? May I come and get materials or items from my classroom?

    The buildings are closed and will not be opened for any employee except those deemed “essential personnel” or by special permission of the employees chief or chief-level supervisor.

  • Will all employees stay home during this time frame?

    No. Some employees will be needed to continue critical functions such as online instruction, student feeding, payroll, technology, employee benefits, and communications.

  • I am a District employee. Will I be paid for the time schools are closed?

    The Fort Worth ISD Board of Education met for an emergency session on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 in which trustees approved a resolution 8-0 that guarantees most Fort Worth ISD employees will continue to be paid while schools are closed. This includes all regular employees, contractual and non-contractual, salaried and non-salaried and qualified substitutes who have worked at least 100 days during the 2019-2020 academic year.

    The resolution covers a period of one month unless extended by the Board.Click here for more details.

  • Will long-term substitutes be paid during the District closure?

    On March 17, 2020, the Board approved a resolution authorizing the District pay substitute teachers who have worked at least 100 days during the 2019-2020 school year.

  • When will employee active directory issues be resolved?

    The FWISD Technology Department is diligently working to restore the District's active directory and more details on the process will be shared soon. Continue to check the District website for updates.

  • How soon can District employees get access to their email?

    Employees are encouraged to contact their supervisor or campus principal who can assist accessing employee email. Employees may also contact the Technology Help Desk at 817-814-HELP (4357) for assistance.

  • I'm FWISD teacher who did not complete FLEX hours prior to the District closure. What should I do?

    The FLEX guidance document has been updated to reflect the extended deadline of April 15. Additional online courses and the updated guidance document are now posted on the Fort Worth ISD Professional Learning and Innovation website. If you have additional questions regarding FLEX credit, please contact Deidra.Keener@fwisd.org.

  • Will the Fort Worth ISD Family Resource Centers remain open?

    All school-based health centers operated by the JPS Health Network are closed effective Friday, March 27, 2020 due to the COVID-19 virus, including all Fort Worth ISD Family Resource Centers. Read more here.

  • What is the District doing to clean and disinfect all campuses and facilities?

    The District has completed a thorough, deep cleaning of our campuses and offices. Extra crews were brought in to ensure this is done properly. Schools and offices will remain closed to prevent those facilities from becoming contaminated. If someone has to enter a building for any reason, that building will be scheduled for another deep cleaning prior to school reopening. There is considerable information regarding personal, individual steps people can implement on the District's Know the Plan webpage and information will be shared on the District's social media pages.

  • What other events have been canceled, rescheduled or postponed?

    The Fort Worth ISD Equity Summit (March 21) and large gatherings associated with the Cesar Chavez-Dolores Huerta Day of Service (March 23) have been canceled.

    The Board of Education Regular Meeting, originally scheduled for March 24 has been rescheduled for March 31

    The groundbreaking for the expansion of the Young Men’s Leadership Academy (March 26) has been postponed. 

    Online Pre-K/ Kindergarten Registration will continue as scheduled on April 1. 

    The Fort Worth ISD Campus Teacher of the Year Celebration (April 2) is postponed. 

    The Pre-K/ Kindergarten Registration and Literacy Fair (April 4) has been canceled

  • Will invoices sent to Accounts Payable during the closure be paid to District vendors?

    Although the District is closed, we are developing processes with our limited essential personnel to pay invoices as they are presented via the U.S. Postal Service.  Mailroom personnel will monitor incoming mail for invoices and route them to the Accounts Payable Department where they will be processed for payment.
