Children's Vision Program
Helping Kids Learn by Helping Kids See.
Good vision is essential for learning. When students can see clearly, they can focus, read, and succeed in the classroom.
The Children's Vision Program provides free vision services to students in Fort Worth ISD — including screenings, eye exams, and glasses.
Start Here: Get Help for your Child
If you think your child may have trouble seeing, follow these steps:
-
Vision Screening at School — students are screened by certified vision screeners or school nurses during the school year.
- Referral Notification — If your child does not pass the screening, you will be notified by the school nurse or vision program official.
- Complete Consent Form — A parent/guardian must give permission for eye exam services.
- Free Eye Exam — Your child will receive a comprehensive eye exam from a licensed provider, if eligible.
- Free Glasses (if needed) — Glasses are provided at no cost.
What We Provide
School Vision Screenings — Early detection of vision issues that may affect learning.
Comprehensive Eye Exams — Full exams by licensed eye care professionals.
Free Glasses — Students who need glasses receive them at no cost.
Follow-Up Support — Ongoing assistance to ensure students continue receiving care.
Who Qualifies?
Students may be eligible if they:

Why Vision Matters
- Most classroom learning is visual
- Vision problems can impact reading, focus, and behavior
- Many children don't realize they have trouble seeing
A simple pair of glasses can make a life-changing difference.
