Program Overview
FWISD/CFW After-School Sites
The Fort Worth ISD/City of Fort Worth (FWISD/CFW) operates 76 after-school program sites, most of which run Monday through Thursday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. Select campuses also offer parent-pay and free programs on Fridays.
Fort Worth After School (FWAS) is provided at no cost to participating families, most of whom qualify for the federal free lunch program. Each site is managed by a site supervisor, while overall program operations are overseen by a central administrative team that includes a director and two program coordinators.
FWISD/CFW’s goals are to:
- Enhance educational competence
- Promote physical and social development
- Reduce the likelihood of children becoming victims or perpetrators of crime
Students at each site receive a nutritious snack and homework support from program staff. Additionally, schools offer programming in at least three of the following five areas:
- Academic enrichment/tutoring/homework help
- Recreation and youth development
- Fine arts
- Service learning and community engagement
- Technology skills and tools
