Home-Schooled Student Testing Opportunities

Home-Schooled Student Testing Opportunities

Under Texas Education Code §29.916(b), Fort Worth ISD is required to allow eligible home-schooled students who reside within Fort Worth ISD attendance boundaries to participate in district-administered PSAT/NMSQT® and Advanced Placement (AP®) exams. The law further requires that home-schooled students pay the same testing fee charged to enrolled district students. In Fort Worth ISD, the PSAT/NMSQT and AP exams are offered to students at no cost.

This provision ensures that home-schooled students have access to nationally recognized assessments that may support college admissions, scholarship opportunities, and, in the case of AP exams, the opportunity to earn college credit through qualifying scores.

Registration Information

Home-schooled students who reside within Fort Worth ISD and wish to participate in the PSAT or an AP exam must register in advance and provide proof of residency upon request.

To begin the registration process, please contact:

Michael Flusche
Director of Advanced Academics & G/T
michael.flusche@fwisd.org

After contacting the district, families will be connected with the appropriate high school campus to complete registration and receive testing-specific information, including deadlines, testing locations, and required documentation.

Because AP exam orders and testing arrangements must be finalized well in advance, families are encouraged to contact the district as early as possible. Testing locations may vary based on campus capacity and exam availability.
