P-TECH Academy for Cloud Technologies and Networking
Students have the opportunity to earn an associate degree along with their high school diploma – tuition free – in what is considered a “school within a school.” Students enjoy a traditional high school campus with access to traditional high school offerings, including UIL athletics and activities.
P-TECH Collegiate Academies provide work-based learning experiences at every grade level by establishing agreements with industry partners. Through internships and apprenticeships, students may earn credentials such as licenses and certificates aligned to their chosen pathway.
This program focuses on high level technology courses where students learn how to program computer networks and build cloud systems allowing computers to communicate and share information. Students who enroll in this academy should have a high level of interest in computers. This academy also offers an Associates of Applied Sciences rather than an Associates of Arts. This is a much more focused degree which means your courses are mostly technology based rather than broad liberal arts focused.
Opportunities available to students participating in a P-TECH Collegiate Academy:
- Students will learn employment and career expectations firsthand through relationships forged with industry partners.
- Students will earn both college hours and industry certifications in their chosen P-TECH pathway.

Animal Science, Applied Agriculture Engineering, and Welding
» Our students successfully compete in many Career Development and Leadership events, including Livestock Projects, Agriculture Mechanical building projects, Youth Fair, and Public Speaking.
» Our student Career Development teams often advance to the state level of competition in areas such as Entomology, Wildlife Management, Horses, Dairy Cattle, Farm Business Management, Floriculture, Poultry, and Veterinary Medicine.
» Our student Leadership Development teams participate in interesting events such as Agriculture Advocacy, Greenhand Skill, Job Interview, Radio Broadcasting, Senior Quiz, and Senior Skill.

AP Capstone Academy
AP Capstone is a diploma program from College Board that equips students with the independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges. AP Capstone is built on the foundation of two AP courses – AP Seminar and AP Research – that complement other AP courses.
Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional exams of their choosing will receive the AP Capstone Diploma. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research but not on four additional AP exams will receive the AP Seminar and Research Certificate. AP Seminar is also a stand-alone option; however, it is ideally the first of a two- course sequence.

» Students interested in Concert Dance (ballet, modern, jazz, etc.) receive unparalleled, high-quality dance training through individualized instruction focused on technique, choreography, and dance production.
» The Arlington Heights Dance Program, now in its 27th year, also has a pre- professional level dance company recognized as an exceptional youth company throughout the country.
» Students work with dance professionals, college professors, and master teachers. Through their annual college recruitment event, AHHS students have the opportunity for onsite acceptance into college programs and scholarships.
» The dance program and pre-professional company has performed at National and Regional High School Dance Festival.
» Dancers have gone on to pursue a dance major at University of the Arts, Peabody Conservatory, The University of Texas, Texas Christian University, Texas A&M, Dean College, Columbia College Chicago, Adelphi University, and LIU Brooklyn, among others.

Veterinary Medical Assistant
Focuses on the science, research, and business of animals and other living organisms. It teaches students how to apply biology and life science to real-world life processes of animals and wildlife, either in laboratories or in the field, which could include a veterinary office, a farm or ranch, or any outdoor area harboring animal life. Students may also research and analyze the growth and destruction of species and research or diagnose diseases and injuries of animals.
Student FFA members compete at Career Development contests in areas such as Veterinary Science, Livestock Judging, Poultry Judging, Floriculture, and Nursery/Landscape.
Students have opportunities to attend the FFA State convention.
Students build and grow a livestock show team of rabbits, lambs, or steers; non-livestock teams work with crafts and baked goods

Welding
- Students start with the basics in safety, welding, design, and technology.

Culinary Arts
- Students participate in community events, competitions, and Career and Technical Student Organizations.
- Culinary Arts students have qualified for Prostart State Competition in each of the past five years.
- Multiple teams of culinary students have advanced to Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) contests at the state level, with some qualifying for nationals the past three years.

Cosmetology
- Cosmetology offers hands-on training in cutting, color, texture, styling skin and nails and much more, all under
the guidance of passionate educators who are committed to helping students succeed as cosmetologists. - Students learn the history of cosmetology and the microbiology associated with cosmetology.
- In their junior and senior years, students apply their knowledge and skills to real- world activities on the lab floor. This phase of cosmetology prepares students for licensure from the Texas Department of License and Regulation. They must clock 1,000 hours to obtain their license. Upon the completion of 900 clocked hours, students will take a written exam. After 1,000 hours, they take a practical exam to obtain a license
Animation
- Students participate in Cartoon, Business, Architectural, Landscape, Fashion and 3D Animation.
- Animation students have the chance to be certified in Adobe products.
- Practice hands-on real-world software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Animate, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro. Certifications in these software programs are also available.
- Develop design skills that promote career employment diversity categories such as Real Estate, Military, Game Studios, Aerospace, Automotive, and all other business practices that involve animation.
- Multiple teams of Animation students have established eSports competitions and a campus game club.
A/V & Film
Students will learn the process of production for digital media and broadcast this includes story creation and content specific entertainment.
- Practice hands on with cameras, tripods, microphones, and studio lighting.
- Become proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro digital video editing software.
- Certifications for Adobe software while enrolled in the program.
- Learn how to create music and score for video projects.
- Juniors and Seniors will produce school news/announcements for campus broadcast.
Commercial Photography
Students are introduced to the world of digital photography and learn the basics of photography, including camera operation, editing techniques, presentation skills, and the fundamentals of composition to create compelling imagery. This program uses industry standard equipment and software such as Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
Students will gain an extensive knowledge of technique and photographic concepts.
Students will learn the skills for photo editing and retouching and will have the opportunity to get a certification in Adobe Photoshop.
Fashion Design
Students will learn the skills necessary for a career in the industry of fashion design. Students will learn how to design, sew, and style clothing; apply the elements and principles of design in various aspects of the fashion industry; understand the relationship between history and fashion; know the general characteristics, production, and maintenance of textiles; study and analyze fashion trends and the business of fashion; understand the principles of apparel pattern making; and demonstrate the skills and procedures necessary for sales and marketing in the fashion industry.
- Learn the various construction techniques required to complete a textile project
- Create and develop a fashion show. In addition, plan special fashion events such as trunk shows, retail shows, and educational events
Retail and Entrepreneurship
Students learn how to start and manage a business from the ground up. That includes creating a business plan, marketing products, managing finances, and learning the art of customer service. Students build teamwork and leadership skills through the hands-on, real-world experience of operating an actual student-led retail store.
- Design a business plan for a startup business venture based on your personal interest, creativity, market data research, and social awareness.
- Apply current business market conditions to the creation of advertising and promotional material, participation in business pitch contests, and running a one-day small business at Tech Market Day events.
- Practice hands-on retail and/or service business experiences by operating the student-led campus retail store and running a TechSqu@d service program designed to deliver real-time device solutions to teachers and students.
- Develop ethical leadership skills that promote diversity, communication, accountability, and positive reinforcement of employees in the business community.

Students learn computer maintenance and technical support as they:
- Practice circuitry and electronics skills in simulated environments
- Complete the life cycle of work orders, including client relations
- Configure and update systems and networks
- Apply to join the TechSqu@d team during the senior year
Students will provide technical support while mastering the following:
- Serve as an advisor to school staff/students for general technical issues.
- Provide basic on-going first-line technical support to school staff and students.

I M Terrell Academy for STEM and VPA**
The apprentices of I.M. Terrell Academy have the opportunity to pursue high-level mathematics and science courses while utilizing high-tech tools in a blended and challenging learning environment that nurtures the relationship between the two academies. Students also participate in humanities courses, which provides an enriched, cross-discipline approach to college-prep level humanities study. I.M. Terrell provides accelerated opportunities for students to demonstrate mastery in a flexible schedule and spend greater time and attention in areas of interest.
Apprentices benefit from community partnerships with industry professionals. They attend performances and educational field trips with behind-the-scenes exposure to subject matter experts. Guest speakers representing their area of expertise provide information on postsecondary education and current career-related opportunities and the guidance needed to succeed at both.
The strong support system of faculty and local professionals equips students with the discipline and skills needed to start the next chapter of their lives.

The I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM provides a technology-based blended learning environment that is focused on students with an intense interest in engineering and computer science careers. Students enjoy enhancement opportunities through:

The P-TECH Blueprint provides foundational principles and standards for innovative partnerships with colleges, universities, and industry.
IM Terrell will serve as one of the 2 P-TECH academies with STEM focus in Fort Worth Independent School District partnering with Tarrant County College and Texas Instruments to provide IM Terrell students with a blended Early College High School curriculum with an emphasis on science, math, engineering, and technology. IM Terrell students will have opportunities to engage in work-based learning educational opportunities, earn post-secondary certifications and earn college credit up to 60 college credit hours or an associate’s degree.
P-TECH students:
- can earn up to an associate degree from Tarrant County College (at no cost)
- will earn at least one industry-based certification
- will learn employment and career expectations firsthand through relationships forged with industry partners

Visual and Performing Arts
Students grow artistically in the study of dance, instrumental music, vocal music, theater, and visual arts. Through in-depth and accelerated course work, students prepare for college scholarship auditions and/or career opportunities in the arts.

North Side's P-TECH program is a blend of the traditional high school experience and the early college P-TECH model. Students begin their P-TECH experience on our high school campus taking a mix of dual credit, Career and Technology classes, and core curriculum. As the students moves up in grade level, more classes are taken off campus with our higher education partner, TCC Trinity River Campus.
P-Tech students:
- can earn up to an associate degree from Tarrant County College.
- will earn at least one work-ready certification like Pharmacy Technician, Medical Billing, Patient Care Technician, Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Certified Nursing Assistant.
- will receive supports to help them learn how to manage and be successful in college level coursework.
- will learn medical program skills at clinical sites through our extensive work-based learning program. North Side partners with several local medical facilities and pharmacies so our students learn alongside professionals.

- Automotive Technology
- Offers opportunities for students to work with the latest technology in the automotive industry
- Provides hands-on experience in diagnosing and repairing automotive problems
- Provides instruction on theory and practice to help students pass industry standard ASE exams
Culinary Arts
- Students participate in community events such as Fit Worth, ProStart, Fort Worth Food and Wine Festival, Iron Skillet, Friends of the River, and Texas Restaurant Association Beef Up Education competition.
- Students in dual credit culinary arts classes may earn up to six hours of college credit from Tarrant County College.
- Students plan and execute catering events, run a café on campus, help plan and lead an end-of-school camping trip, and create itineraries for school trips and competitions.
- North Side has the only Hospitality Services program in Fort Worth ISD. Students participate in an intern program at the Worthington Renaissance Hotel and job shadow throughout the hotel.
- Students compete in FCCLA regional and state competitions in Culinary Arts, Mystery Basket, Cup Cake Battle, and Serving up Success.
Cosmetology
The North Side High School Cosmetology program is designed to give students instruction on all phases of the beauty culture needed to prepare them for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) beauty operator’s exam and a career in the cosmetology field.
Our program follows the guidelines of a four-year program designed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) from freshman year to senior year. Both male and female students may enroll in the program through the lottery process of the FWISD Gold Seal Program of Choice. Students are trained in labs simulating salon conditions to develop the technical and communication skills necessary for employment in the vast culture of beauty.
- Learn in a state-of-the-art lab, newly designed and opening in Fall of 2020 -Students operate an in-house salon to gain hands-on experience and provide services to the school staff and community.
- Students volunteer at community events like fashion shows at TCU and UNT
Mariachi
Mariachi, which originated in western Mexico, is a style of music and/or musical group with distinctive instrumentation, singing and performing styles, and clothing.
The North Side HS Mariachi wins awards at the state and national level. Students build on their instrumental and vocal technique skills performing in various types of ensembles, which prepares them for college auditions, as well as a professional career in mariachi.
- Students learn to play multiple instruments and perform in a variety of ensembles.
- A new state-of-the-art rehearsal hall includes a recording studio.
- The program is the home of the premiere performance group, Mariachi Espuelas de Plata, which consistently wins state and national awards and has performed in prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York City.
- Recent program awards include Division I at the TAME State Mariachi Finals, Division I at the Texas State UIL Mariachi Festival and Best in Class FWISD Mariachi Extravaganza.
- Special focus is placed on building the confidence and support needed for university app
Oscar Dean Wyatt HS
Automotive Technology
o Students may earn dual credits in their junior and senior years.
o Industry partnerships include Sewell Lexus, Sewell Infiniti, Freeman Toyota, and the Tarrant County College T-10 program.
o There is a high potential for job placement for students who have their driver’s license.
Construction Technology
- Students may earn up to 13 dual credit hours in their senior year with Tarrant County College South’s Construction Management Technology Department.
- Opportunities for students to apply their woodworking and project designs skills in collaboration with industry partners and TEXO Foundation.
Culinary Arts
- Students learn the exciting, fast-paced world of culinary arts and restaurant management in the Soul of Wyatt Bistro. They work side by side with industry professionals who mentor them in real world, hands-on learning.
- Students compete in professional competitions such as FCCLA, ProStart National Invitational, and Chopped of North Texas. Our students routinely win numerous awards at these competitions.
- Opportunities include catering numerous school and citywide functions. These outstanding learning experiences have included preparing dinner for Mayor Betsy Price and the Fort Worth City Council.
- Students graduate prepared for immediate job entry, as well as postsecondary education, in culinary arts or hotel management
Collegiate Academy
Early College High School (ECHS)
- Freshman, sophomore, and some junior Tarrant County College courses will be taken on the campus of OD Wyatt.
- Collegiate Chaps can participate in all extracurricular activities that are offered at OD Wyatt.
- Collegiate Chaps will have access to all TCC South resources, as well OD Wyatt’s resources.
- Collegiate Chaps will have the opportunity to graduate high school with 60+ hours of transferable college credit.
- Collegiate Academy Chaps will have the opportunity to earn a two-year associates degree from Tarrant County College South along with their high school diploma – tuition free.
- Class of 2021 consisted of nine Wyatt’s Early College Collegiate Academy students that graduated with their Associate’s Degree from Tarrant County College South Campus.

The goal of our P-TECH program is to support our students through rigorous coursework, while providing a unique opportunity to earn a high school diploma, up to 60 college credit hours, and industry-based certifications.
- Students may choose from an industry-based Degree, Credential, and Certification P-TECH program with pathways in the high demand fields of Mechatronics Technician, Advanced Composite, and CNC Machinists. Work-based learning experiences at every grade level are provided by establishing agreements with industry partners. Through internships and apprenticeships, students may earn credentials such as licenses and certificates aligned with their chosen pathway. - Students learn the fundamentals of aerodynamics, theory of flight, and construction of aircraft through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mandated course curriculum.

- The Dunbar Aviation Maintenance program includes certification for the Drone Pilot Part 107 license. AP Capstone Academy
AP Capstone is a diploma program from College Board that equips students with the independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges. AP Capstone is built on the foundation of two AP courses – AP Seminar and AP Research – that complement other AP courses. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional exams of their choosing will receive the AP Capstone Diploma. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research but not on four additional AP exams will receive the AP Seminar and Research Certificate. AP Seminar is also a stand-alone option; however, it is ideally the first of a two-course sequence.

ECHS provides a small, personalized community offering a rigorous college preparatory curriculum that engages students as it prepares them for high-skilled and high-demand careers.

The ECHS programs will target all students entering the ninth grade.
