Document Templates
Document Templates
Templates include a branded PowerPoint (for Microsoft, not Google Slides) and a collection of documents intended for use in Google Docs.
Sometimes a template does not meet specific design needs. Please email branding@fwisd.org for extra assistance creating a document that meets your needs, or for support adding custom pages or features to an existing template.
Step-by-Step instructions are below:
Instructions
- Sign into your Google account. For employees, remember that your login is @teachers.fwisd.org.
- Open the Document Templates folder.
- For easier viewing, look for the "Grid layout" button at the top right of the folder. Now you can see thumbnail images instead of a list.
- Choose a document and double-click to open it.
- To use in Google Docs, click File > Make a copy.
- To use on your computer with Microsoft Word, click File > Download.
- COMMON ISSUE: Make a copy is greyed out.
You are not logged into your Google account. Either sign in and try again, or Download and use in Microsoft Word on your computer.
- COMMON ISSUE: It won't let me Make a copy. It is telling me to Request Access.
The folder that Google is trying to save your copy into is the same folder where all the templates live, owned by Communications. You need it to save to YOUR Google Drive instead. Follow the steps below.
- File > Make a copy.
- Click the button below Folder.
- Select My Drive. Click Select again if it didn't go to the next page yet.
- You are back to the "Copy document" dialog and can now click "Make a copy" with no errors.

Photography
Photography
Here are several ways to browse FWISD photos:
- Collection of our favorite photos in Google Drive
(Smallest, more curated selection)
- On our website at www.fwisd.org/photos
(Nearly all of our photos. Use the navigation bar to find photos as far back as 2016.)
- In our Facebook Albums
(Many, but not all photos)
If you find a photo you love and need a higher resolution version, please email branding@fwisd.org with the image and information on where you found it. We will do our best to locate the original photo.
Fonts
Primary Font
Interstate
Interstate is our primary brand font.
Available in Adobe Fonts with an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. Can be used in certain non-Adobe applications on the same computer Adobe in installed onto. Not available in Adobe Express due to licensing issues. We do not require use of Interstate for those who do not have access to it. See allowable font variations below.
Alternatives for Interstate
Roboto
Available in Google Fonts, in all Google products, and free for download
Aptos
In Outlook, we are now embracing the default Microsoft font, Aptos. See the Email Signature template section further down this page.
Arial
In cases where installing a custom font is not an option or could create unexpected results, such as in a shared Powerpoint presentation, please use Arial or Arial Narrow.
Secondary Font
Aleo
Aleo is our secondary brand font.
Available for free from Google Fonts and can be added to Google Docs (click on Fonts, then More Fonts). It can also be downloaded and installed on your computer.
Alternative for Aleo
Georgia
In cases where installing a custom font is not an option or could create unexpected results, such as in a shared Powerpoint presentation, please use Georgia.
How to Install Google Fonts
In Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.
- While in your document, click on Fonts (where it says your current font's name)
- Click More Fonts.

- Test the email link by clicking on it and making sure it creates a new email with your correct address.
- Open Outlook Settings and find the signature called Standard. Click on it and click Edit.
- Go back to Microsoft Word. Select All of your signature with this keyboard shortcut:
Mac: Command+A | PC: Ctrl+A
- Copy the selected text:
Mac: Command+C | PC: Ctrl+C
- Go back to the Outlook Signature Settings.
- Paste the selected text into the Outlook Signature box.
Mac: Command+V | PC: Ctrl+V
- Click Save and Close.
- With the Settings box still open, be sure that both New Messages and Replies/forwards are set to Standard and that Account: is referring to your correct email address.
- Repeat this process for all of your devices AND web-based Outlook. Signature settings do NOT sync across devices.

A Note About Fonts
You may notice that this email template no longer uses Arial. This is to reduce friction as Microsoft constantly tries to reset your fonts to their new default, Aptos (it used to be Calibri). Since Aptos looks similar to our brand fonts anyway, we are embracing the standards and using Aptos where Microsoft wants us to. If in the past you changed your default fonts in Outlook to Arial, go ahead and change them back to Aptos. (Settings > Fonts > New mail, Reply or forward, and Preview.)

Name Tags
Below is a link to a Google Drive folder with name tag files. Options are given for different sizes and layouts. Please send this page's URL (www.fwisd.org/branding) or the link below to your vendor, and they can access the .AI design file to create a mockup for you. Let them know which color option and layout you prefer.

- Examples shown in the folder are black ink on gold plastic or gold aluminum, blue text on white plastic, or white text on blue plastic.
- You may choose between traditional safety pin, clip, or magnetic back, although most people prefer a magnet.
- Engraved text is preferred, as it will be more durable and not peel off.
- You are welcome to use any of our approved vendors. Vendors may send their questions to branding@fwisd.org
Business Cards
Download this form, fill it out, and then email it to envelopro@aol.com
This is a temporary process, until a new ordering website is available.
Zoom Backgrounds
Here are some Fort Worth and FWISD-themed backgrounds for those who prefer to blur out their surroundings on video calls.
District Map
Quickly reference all sorts of information with our district map! Shown on the map are three Learning & Leading Areas, shown in different background colors, plus Board of Trustee districts (approximate), feeder pyramids, student ages, and school types.
Included are two PDF files: 11x17 for printing on your office printer, or 36x48 to send to a professional printer with large format plotter equipment. (We recommend you ask the printer for at least 35 pound paper or heavier. Optionally, ask about lamination or extra finishing services.)
The PNG file can be used as a computer wallpaper or to display on a web page.
