McLean Middle School Band Selected to Perform at Prestigious National Music Festival in Indianapolis
Only ten bands from across the country are invited to perform this year
Fort Worth, TX – The McLean Middle School Band will perform at the 2024 Music for All National Festival presented by Yamaha, in Indianapolis this coming March. This is an extraordinary honor. The prestigious event, which invites only ten bands from across the nation, will showcase the McLean Wind Ensemble’s exceptional talent on a national stage.
"The McLean band is thrilled to have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform at the Music for All National Festival. Preparing for the event in March has energized our entire program and community, and we can't wait to see the hard work pay off,” said McLean Middle School Director of Bands, Christa Martien Chanthavongsy.
Following the submission of recordings from the 2023-24 school year, the McLean Wind Ensemble was chosen from a competitive pool of applicants to join this elite group of middle school bands. Their selection marks a significant milestone, as this will be the first time a Fort Worth ISD band will take the stage at the Music for All National Festival.
“I am proud of the McLean MS Band students for being selected for this prestigious honor. The directors have been working hard to elevate the McLean band to this national standard of performance. Accomplishing something like this shows that Fort Worth ISD continues to be a nationally recognized district for music education. I expect the festival to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience," said Director of Visual and Performing Arts, Jesse Cannon II.

About the Festival:
Founded in 1975, Music for All is one of the nation's largest organizations supporting music education and performance. Its National Festival, launched in 1992, provides an unparalleled educational and performance experience for top scholastic bands, orchestras, and ensembles across the country. The festival is presented by Yamaha and aims to create life-changing opportunities through music. There will be a live stream of the event available through Box 5 Media, and we will perform on March 15th at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

Fort Worth, TX - La McLean Middle School Band actuará en el 2024 Music for All National Festival presentado por Yamaha, en Indianápolis el próximo mes de marzo. Este es un honor extraordinario. El prestigioso evento, que sólo invita a diez bandas de toda la nación, mostrará el excepcional talento del conjunto de vientos de McLean en un escenario nacional.
“La banda de McLean está encantada de tener esta oportunidad única de actuar en el Festival Nacional de Música para Todos. La preparación para el evento en marzo ha llenado de energía a todo nuestro programa y a la comunidad, y estamos emocionados por ver cómo el trabajo duro da sus frutos”, dijo la Directora de Bandas de McLean Middle School, Christa Martien Chanthavongsy.

Fort Worth ISD Receives Highest Rating for the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST)
FWISD earns a perfect score of 100 on the final 2023-24 FIRST Ratings
FORT WORTH, TX — The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released the final 2023-24 Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) ratings, and Fort Worth ISD has achieved a perfect 100 score. The district has an A, or Superior, rating. This score reflects the district’s strong commitment to financial accountability, transparency, and responsible fiscal management, as measured by 21 indicators of financial performance.
“The FIRST rating is an important indicator of a school district’s fiscal health and we have worked hard as a team to make this achievement possible. Increasing the district’s fiscal health is a strategic board goal and we strive to maintain financial integrity by ensuring that we are accountable and transparent in how we manage our public dollars,” said Carmen Arrieta-Candelaria, Chief Financial Officer of FWISD.
Final ratings will be presented to the FWISD Board of Trustees at the regularly scheduled board meeting on October 22, 2024.

The state's school financial accountability rating system, known as the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve these practices. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.

FORT WORTH, TX — La Agencia de Educación de Texas (TEA) ha publicado las calificaciones finales del Sistema de Calificación de Integridad Financiera de Texas (FIRST) para el ciclo escolar 2023-24, y el Distrito Escolar de Fort Worth ha logrado una puntuación perfecta de 100. El distrito recibió una calificación de "A" o "Superior." Este puntaje refleja el fuerte compromiso del distrito con la responsabilidad financiera, la transparencia y la gestión fiscal responsable, evaluado a través de 21 indicadores de desempeño financiero.
"El puntaje FIRST es un indicador importante de la salud fiscal de un distrito escolar, y hemos trabajado arduamente como equipo para lograr este resultado. Two Fort Worth ISD Projects Selected for 2024-25 Exhibit of School Architecture
FORT WORTH, TX — Fort Worth ISD is proud to announce that two of its bond projects — O.D. Wyatt High School from the 2017 bond and Rolling Hills Elementary School from the 2021 bond — were selected for the prestigious 2024-25 Exhibit of School Architecture.
In addition to its selection in the exhibit, Rolling Hills Elementary earned two Stars of Distinction in this year’s exhibit—one for Design and another for Wellness. These honors highlight the district's commitment to creating supportive, healthy, and inspiring learning environments for our students.
This esteemed exhibit, organized by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) and the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), highlights exceptional school facilities from across the state.
The Exhibit of School Architecture showcases 41 outstanding projects from 30 school districts, two college systems, and one state school. These projects, completed in the past five years and not previously featured, represent innovative designs and improvements in educational facilities.
The TASA/TASB Exhibit of School Architecture, in collaboration with the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) Southern Region Foundation, will be prominently featured at txEDCON24, The TASA | TASB Convention, taking place in San Antonio September 27-28. The projects will also be accessible online at https://texasschoolarchitecture.org/.
