Fort Worth ISD is committed to working cooperatively with the news media. It is the role of the News and Information staff to collaborate with local, state, regional, and national media outlets in sharing meaningful information regarding the district. We love to spotlight the great teaching and learning happening in our classrooms, and we welcome the press to cover stories about school and district news, events, programs, and activities. We also have lots of story ideas, so feel free to contact us if you need one!
FWISD Media Guidelines
-
News and Information staff should be contacted immediately when a representative of the media requests to visit a campus or arrives at a campus or district facility without prior approval. If a member of the media is on site without prior approval, he/she should be asked nicely to leave. Please call 817-851-2188
-
All media inquiries should be directed to the News and Information Staff, including those sent via email. (Please don't call schools directly) Exceptions include routine athletic and/or extracurricular activity news coverage during games, tournaments, and/or performances open to the general public and conducted outside the normal school day.
- If you would like to use the outside of one of our schools for a stand-up and/or live-shot, a quick text is appreciated.
- If you are covering a school event, please get approval from a teacher or school leader before interviewing any students. While we have releases for many of our students, some cannot be photographed or filmed.
- We suggest that, unless you're brave, you try not to visit schools during drop off or pick up, as the vehicle and foot traffic can be challenging.
- FWISD strictly enforces student privacy preferences and release of student information as outlined in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
-
The Superintendent or designee shall be the official spokesperson for FWISD.
