Health Services

• Improve academic success by meeting the health needs of students (e.g., physical, behavioral, and social-emotional).
• Prevent the spread of communicable disease by ensuring mandated immunization compliance (per Texas Administrative Code).
• Prevent and mitigate the spread of communicable diseases by quickly recognizing the symptoms of potentially contagious illnesses, recommending medical follow-up, and reporting certain communicable diseases in accordance with the Texas Department of State Health Services.
• Promote academic success by removing barriers related to access by performing state-mandated screenings for hearing, vision, spinal and acanthosis nigricans and connecting with local community health-care providers/agencies for referral services.

The Texas Education Code § 28.004(k)(5) requires a district to post whether each campus has a full-time nurse. Fort Worth ISD assigns a full-time nurse position to each campus. For additional information, contact your child’s school or the Health Services Department at 817-814-2990.
