Texas Statutory Workers’ Compensation is a system established under Texas law (Texas Labor Code, Title 5, Subtitle A) to provide standardized benefits to employees injured on the job. The term 'statutory' means the benefits and procedures are governed by state law.
The Risk Management Department, Workers’ Compensation Section is responsible for administration of District’s Self-Funded Statutory Workers' Compensation Program and oversight of all vendors providing services pursuant to the program. The Texas Department of Insurance Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) regulates and administers the Statutory Workers’ Compensation System in the State of Texas.
All District employee who are injured in the course and scope of their employment are eligible to file a Workers’ Compensation Claim.
