Student and Family Experience
Our Mission
The Student and Family Experience Division is dedicated to creating a supportive school experience for students and families by providing resources and tools that empower parents to help their children succeed both in and out of the classroom.
Our Departments
Adult Education
The Fort Worth ISD Adult Education Department provides grant-funded programs designed to empower adult learners in Tarrant County with essential academic, language, and workforce skills. Through accessible and comprehensive education, these programs support individuals in achieving high school equivalency, advancing their careers, and fostering personal growth by enhancing their English language proficiency.
The Children's Vision Program (CVP) is dedicated to meeting the eye care needs of Fort Worth ISD students in Pre-K through twelfth grade via a partnership between Fort Worth ISD and the Alcon Foundation. Recognizing the importance of good vision and eye health for academic success, the program aims to provide eligible FWISD students with access to comprehensive eye exams and high-quality eyewear, all at no cost.
Family & Community Resources
The Fort Worth ISD Family and Community Resources department works to nurture the needs of the whole child to improve in-school and self-actualization outcomes by offering support to students referred for resources through community partners. Family Resource Centers (FRC) are located in proximity to campuses and address the health and mental needs of students by offering an expanding array of services to remove health-related barriers to school success.
Fort Worth After School
Created in October 1999, Fort Worth After School (FWAS) is a collaborative effort of FWISD and the City of Fort Worth through the Crime Control Prevention District (CCPD) to improve academic success and reduce juvenile crime through structured afterschool enrichment programs. The mission of the Fort Worth After School (FWAS) department is to provide quality before and after school programs in a safe environment that result in educational, physical and social development for elementary, middle and high school students.
Health Services
The Health Services Department is responsible for the health of school children while they are under school jurisdiction. A goal of the School Health Services Department is to prepare students upon maturity to assume responsibility for their health and the health of others. The primary objective of the school nurse is to strengthen the educational process of children and the youth by assisting them in improving or adapting to their health status.
Parent Partnerships
The Department of Parent Partnerships’ focus is to strengthen the partnership between schools and families, fostering a collaborative environment that supports academic achievement, social-emotional development, and overall student well-being. The department aims to bridge gaps, build trust, and empower families as essential partners in the educational journey. Our approach emphasizes the support of the family engagement specialists, family communication outreach specialists, and Parent Partnerships staff working together to ensure all families feel welcomed, valued, and equipped to contribute to their child’s success.
