National Board Certified Teachers

Advance your impact. National Board Certification is the highest mark of accomplished teaching—portable nationwide and built by teachers. Candidates with 3+ years of experience can pursue certification across content areas and developmental levels.

What you gain

  • Texas recognition via TIA after full certification (eligible component fee reimbursement up to $1,900)

What it takes

Teacher in front of  class
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher)
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate (or approved non-licensure setting)
  • Completion of four NBPTS components (each $475; $75 annual registration is non-reimbursable; retakes not reimbursable)

How FWISD helps (2025–2026)

  • Structured cohort starting January 2026
  • Guided preparation, peer collaboration, and milestone check-ins
  • Cohort support runs through June 2026

Key Dates

  • November 4 at 5 p.m.: Awareness Session (Zoom link)
    Teacher Teaching Student
  • November 11 and 18: Next Steps (In person)
  • December 1–12: Selection process for 2026 Candidate Cohort
  • January 2026: Cohort prep, NBPTS registration, and start
  • March–June 2026: Component 1 testing window
  • June 2026: 2025–26 cohort support concludes
