Bilingual Teacher Assistant Program

Bilingual Teacher Assistant Program

The Bilingual Teacher Assistant Program (BTAP) recruits, hires, and mentors bilingual college students who are studying to become high-needs Bilingual/ESL teachers for the Fort Worth Independent School District.

BTAP students work part-time as a teacher assistant with a master teacher in a Dual Language Education classroom while completing their college course work. BTAP students gain valuable classroom experience while working alongside an experienced cooperating teacher, earn hourly pay, and have an opportunity for supplemental pay. FWISD is flexible with school schedules, with BTAP students work between 13-14.5 hours a week. In addition, BTAP students receive monthly training sessions that help prepare them for the teacher role.  FWISD administrators are familiar with our program and are eager to hire BTAP students as soon as they graduate from college.
