Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Timlan Lubbers
Hi I’m Mr. Lubbers. I currently am teaching 4th grade Math, Science, and Social Studies. I have a Master’s Degree from Texas Tech in Sports Health and Wellness, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from U.T. El Paso. I’m certified All-levels for Physical Education, Self-contained Elementary Classroom, and Secondary History. My email address is: firstname.lastname@example.org. My conference period and virtual office hours are from 12:05-12:45. Additionally, I will be available after school from 6-9 p.m. simply by calling or texting me at my home phone: 915-276-1977 I was born in the largest border city in the world, El Paso, TX. I lived my formative years in Wisconsin’s capital city (which is where I came to love the only football team with 13 World Championships!), and then eventually, my parents decided to move back to El Paso. I joined the Marine Corps and after six years left as one of top 10% of the sergeants. I enjoy and play almost every type of sport, and today I referee several of them. My experience in education is quite diverse. I’ve taught children from kinder all the way through college. I’ve also coached a number of sports at the jr. high and high school levels as well as city leagues. I’ve also been the Education coordinator for an adolescent Day program for teens that had various problems, and have worked as the Training and Programs Specialist for the Army’s MWR- CYS programs for five years. Add to that having taught in the State-Jail system for 11 years, helping inmates get their GED’s at nearly a 90% success rate, and you can see that my experiences have been very diverse. In the corporate world, I worked as a trainer to help learn new programs for a company, and was also a supervisor. So, why do I teach? I teach because when I was finishing high school, I didn’t know what I wanted to do, so I joined the Marines. It was there that I changed my own physical build, and it was at that point that I realized, if I could change me,… I could help others change to become the best person they could be, as long as they tried. I have a keen eye as a coach for recognizing when someone’s missing a detail that can propel them to the top. I know how to motivate people to succeed, and there’s nothing like the rush of seeing a student “understand” something they previously couldn’t! I enjoy helping the next generation learn how to become critical thinkers instead of simply taking what society spoon feeds us simply because they say so. I challenge them to question “Why” and find the answers so they can truly know, and to never take things at face value…even from me! I’m excited to see what the future holds for our children!
