Ms. Joanna Dehn

Joanna Dehn grew up in the mountains of West Virginia and moved to Texas over ten years ago. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English with a Minor in Technical Writing from Fairmont State University. She also earned a master's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in Curriculum and Instruction. This year she is teaching Pre-AP English I, AP English Literature and Composition as well an Independent Study course at Young Women's Leadership Academy. Previously, she has instructed courses in English, creative writing, SAT preparation and also served as an administrator with her former school system. This will be her eleventh year in education. Teaching students to read critically, ask good questions, and follow their curiosity is her passion. She is an active participant in the North Star of Texas Writing Project as a Teacher Consultant. It is her career goal to eventually become a College Board presenter, reader, and member of the national faculty.
