Mrs. Andrea Bates
Welcome to Calculus AB, Honors Precalculus, & OnRamps Precalculus! These classes are challenging, but beneficial for college bound students. I'm excited about our new OnRamps Precalculus class this year. FWISD is teamed with the University of Texas at Austin to offer students classes that give them both college credit and high school credit.
About Mrs. Bates:
I grew up in Clarksville, Tennessee and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Austin Peay State University. After moving to Georgia, I received my Master of Education degree (Mathematics) from Georgia State University. I have been teaching on and off for over 20 years. My teaching career started in Georgia where I taught at a public high school and later at a private middle school. I have taught all subjects in Math from Algebra 1 to Calculus. I took a break from teaching to raise my children, but continued to tutor students during those years. I have been teaching at Arlington Heights for 10 years. Family is very important to me. My husband and I have been married for 30 years and have two sons. Both are engineering students who will graduate from Texas A&M and the United States Naval Academy soon. From 2001-2004 we lived in South Korea where my husband had an overseas assignment with Lockheed Martin. Our family is very active in our church. I have been on numerous mission trips to Ukraine and have loved serving the community through our church. I love teaching Calculus and Precalculus here. It's exciting to watch my students earn college credit!
