  • The Fort Worth Independent School District Office of Legal Services provides legal services to the Board of Trustees, Superintendent, and any other District employee in the course and scope of their employment. The Office of Legal Services CANNOT ADVISE PARENTS/GUARDIANS; It represents the District as a whole and not individuals.

    The Office of Legal Services is responsible for the management of legal services for the District and for providing legal representation in all matters involving the District. The Office of Legal Services provides comprehensive legal services in the area of compliance with federal, state, and local law, Board policies, the interpretation of laws, employee training, contract review, compliance with the Texas Public Information Act, representation of the District in administrative hearings before the Board of Trustees and court hearings in a court of law.  

    The Office of Legal Services staff is comprised of a General Counsel, Staff Attorney, UIL and Title IX Compliance Officer, Public Information Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, and an Administrative Associate.

  • Fort Worth Independent School District – Public Information Act – Catastrophe Notice

    On Tuesday morning, March 3, 2020, the Fort Worth Independent School District’s domain controller server was impacted by a malware attack. The District’s technology team are working very carefully and deliberately to bring the systems back online. As a result, the District has been offline this week, and may remain offline, quite possibly, throughout spring break beginning March 9, 2020 through March 13, 2020.

    Pursuant to Section 552.233(b) of the Texas Government Code, a governmental body may suspend the applicability of the requirements of the Texas Public Information Act (“Act”) if the governmental body is currently impacted by a catastrophe and provides proper notice in accordance with the section. A catastrophe is defined as a “condition or occurrence that interferes with the ability of a governmental body to comply with the requirements of the Act.

    As such, the District is suspending the applicability of the requirements of the Act for the following time period:

    Beginning Date of Initial Suspension:    03/03/2020

    End Date of Initial Suspension:              03/10/2020
