We are just a few short days away from our 4th annual MLK Day of Service Event when the Division of Equity & Excellence and staff volunteers distribute resources to the itinerant community. Based upon the outpouring of support we received last year, we are using an Amazon Gift Registry to gather items again this year. Once items are received, FWISD staff volunteers will assemble and distribute care packages to the homeless community along the West Lancaster corridor.
In order to support the success of ALL Fort Worth ISD students and to ensure all students are prepared for College, Career, and Community Leadership, the Division of Equity and Excellence will ensure equity in all practices and at all organizational levels in FWISD by providing professional development to educate others on the impact of institutionalized racism and equity, specifically racial equity, on student achievement.
"The District recognizes that major historical and societal factors in our nation impact the inequity that exists within public schools. Purposeful action can be taken to identify, acknowledge, and overcome racial and ethnic disparities between students. The responsibility for addressing these disparities among students rests with the adults, not with the students." ~Board Policy AE(LOCAL)
We believe in the FWISD Motto, Mission, Vision, and Values and align our work to these ideals.
