Fall Season
Posted by Coach Soto & Coach Sanks on 10/10/2023Yesterday, Monday, October 9, marked the end of the fall season for your WHHS Cougar Tennis Team, during the Regions match against Panther Creek High School of Frisco. Overall, your tennis team had a great team season, ending with a very respectable 9W -5L record and placing 3rd in our district. Unfortunately, our biggest opponent this season was the weather, which really interfered with our ability to practice, but this young team has improved greatly over the last four months and is already itching to get ready for the spring individual season. Be sure to congratulate all the tennis players on a great season and on all of their hard work!

Benbrook Meet
Posted by Coach Soto & Sanks on 9/27/2023Yesterday, Tuesday, September 26, your Western Hills Cougars played their last match of Fall District play against the Benbrook Bobcats. Though we did not score the overall match points we needed to win as a team, we improved greatly since our last meeting with our friends down the street, and we had some very exciting matches with some big wins! Congratulate and encourage all the tennis players you know as they prepare for their next playoff match, tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 9.

Ranchview Meet
Posted by Coach Soto on 9/21/2023The tennis team played the defending District Champs last night and played a tremendous match. Although we did not win, the kids showed major improvement. The weather has not been nice for us, but the team has persevered. We have a very young team this year, and we see many bright spots. The team has really bought into the "Cougar Up" mentality, regardless of the circumstances, and that has led to making it to the play-offs again.

Ranchview Wolves
Posted by Coach Soto & Coach Sanks on 8/30/2023On Tuesday, August 29 the Cougar tennis team had its first district game against the reigning district champs, the Ranchview Wolves. The final score was not in our favor, but your cougars played much better than the scores would suggest. Almost every set played came close to winning sets, but we struggled to close each one out. Your Cougars played hard against a strong opponent, and we are still in a good standing for the overall district outcome we're hoping for!

Non-District Play
Posted by Coach Soto on 8/16/2023I would like to congratulate the tennis team for a nice win last night against Northside. They wrapped up non-district play with a winning record against some tough 5A teams. Now they will start their 4A district play. They will travel to Dallas on August 29th to play Ranchview. Thanks for all your support.

Brewer Meet
Posted by Coaches Soto & Sanks on 8/9/2023This morning your tennis Cougars had a tough loss to the much larger Brewer Bear tennis team.
Sometimes, though, a loss is more beneficial than an easy win. We were able to recognize several weak points and several opportunities for growth, both as individual players and as a team, so we still count it as a net positive. The season is still very young, and we have a strong looking team!
This Friday we square off against the Bridgeport Bulls.

Season Opener
Posted by Coach Sanks on 8/7/2023On Friday evening, the Western Hills Tennis Cougars scored a huge 15-4 win over the Mineral Wells Rams in their Fall season opening match. We went out expecting to just knock the rust off of our rackets, but came away with a very big W. It was a great way to start the season! And as you can see below, they had some fun in the process.

Summer Tennis Camp
Posted by Coach Sanks on 6/8/2023Your Western Hills Tennis Team put on a fantastic summer tennis camp that was well attended by our younger sibling schools, as well as others in our community. We had a strong showing from Luella-Merrett, Waverly Park, Leonard, and several out-of-district schools, too. It was a great three days, and you should be proud of how your WHHS Tennis cougars represented our school! They are a testimony to the great things being done here at the Hills!
