Allison Stephens

Ms. Stephens is the counselor at Burton Hill Elementary. This is her 23rd year in education and her 4th year in counseling. She taught Pre-K and Kindergarten at Briscoe Elementary for 12 years and 2nd- 4th grades at Burton Hill Elementary for 7 years. She wanted to pursue a different avenue of working with children so she went back to school to become a counselor. Ms. Stephens is so excited to continue this journey of counseling is looking forward to helping each student reach their academic, social, and emotional growth. She believes in the power of relationships and fostering a nurturing environment in which all students are able to grow in and learn.
Her counseling mission statement is: Building relationships with our future leaders in a nurturing and equitable environment.

Ms. Stephens graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from Texas Christian University and a M.Ed. in School Counseling from Lamar University. She lives with her youngest daughter, Ryleigh (156), their 2 dogs (Hazel and Moana) and their cat (Monie). Her oldest daughter, Amilya (19), moved in to her own apartment in Fort Worth after graduating high school and works and attends TCC. Ms. Stephens and her girls love to travel, go to TCU volleyball and football games, watch movies, read, listen to music, and just spend time together.

Angela Desalvo

Angela DeSalvo is excited to begin her third year at BHE, this time as the Title 1 Reading teacher. She has been a part of the FWISD community since 2000, having served as a teacher, reading specialist, new teacher induction specialist, and data analyst/testing coordinator. She is a proud graduate of Salisbury State University in Maryland. Go gulls! Angela’s husband, Steven, is a teacher in FWISD, and they have an eight year old son, Dean, who uses his Dyslexia super powers in the third grade. Angela and her family love traveling, camping, cooking, and playing video games together.

Courtney Butler

Ms. Butler is excited to join the BHE family as the librarian. She has been an educator in FWISD for since 2002. She was previously named the Target Teaching Chair in Library and Information Sciences for FWISD. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Tarleton State University and her Master of Science from the University of North Texas. Ms. Butler's favorite part of being a librarian is that she is able to work with all of the students in the school, their families, and the staff. She also really loves reading and sharing great books! Ms. Butler and her husband have twins in 8th grade and a daughter in 1st grade that keep busy with Scouts, basketball, cheer, tumbling, band, and more. Needless to say, Ms. Butler spends a lot of time outside of school listening to audiobooks as she drives her children from one activity to the next.

Annalisa Istre

Mrs. Istre is going into her fifteenth year with FWISD. She has taught Structured Literacy/Dyslexia for students in 1st through 8th grades for the past four years. She loves working with kids, working out, cooking and playing with her dog, Eddy.

Leslie Mendoza (Dyslexia Teacher)

Mrs. Mendoza has her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in Reading. This is her fifth year as a Dyslexia Interventionist at Burton Hill Elementary School, and her fifteenth year with FWISD. She loves reading, inspiring children to read, genealogy and spending time with family.
