Ms. Billmire is excited to be beginning her 4th year of teaching and 4th year at BHE. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood/Special Education from Brigham Young University-Idaho. She is also working on her Masters of Education in Reading through the University of Texas in Tyler. Ms. Billmire enjoys her job because she knows that helping a child learn academics or how to be a good human being is making an impact on their futures. When Ms. Billmire is not working or doing school, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her puppy, Rosie. She enjoys doing things like eating, watching movies, crafting and being outside.

Christina Ray (RISE)

 Mrs. Ray is thrilled to be back at Burton Hill teaching in the RISE classroom. This will be her 18th year with FWISD and her 17th year at Burton Hill Elementary! Mrs. Ray earned her undergraduate degrees from Texas Christian University and her Master's in Education from Concordia University. Mrs. Ray has been a lifelong resident of Fort Worth and is also a Fort Worth ISD graduate. She is married to her husband of eleven years and has three fur babies. In her spare time, she enjoys listening to music, riding her bike and swimming.

Valerie Mitchell (ESCE)

Mrs. Mitchell is one of the Special Education Teachers at Burton Hill. This will be her 19th year as an Early Childhood Special Educator at our school. She earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland. Mrs. Mitchell enjoys teaching and learning with her students; watching their successes grow. She is a mother of 3 and has two grown daughters. Mrs. Mitchell also loves reading and catching up on some of her favorite old movies.

Kerri Berard

Kerri Berard is a Speech Language Pathologist at Burton Hill Elementary and Boulevard Heights and Transition Center. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Kansas State University for Communication Sciences and Disorders in ’16 and ’18, respectively. Kerri takes a special interest in treating stuttering and Autism and serves as a co-leader for the National Stuttering Association Fort Worth Family Chapter. Outside of speech therapy, Kerri enjoys growing houseplants, hiking, and cooking new recipes with her husband.

Kathryn Shapiro (Speech Therapist)

Mrs. Shapiro (formerly Ms. Elam) is excited to start her third year as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) at Burton Hill! She earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Auburn University and her Master of Science in Speech Pathology from The University of Texas at Dallas. Mrs. Shapiro’s favorite part about being an SLP is having the opportunity to work with students of all ages and watching students become more confident in their communication skills. Mrs. Shapiro and her husband have an English Cream Golden Retriever puppy named Sully, love to travel to new places, and enjoy watching Auburn Football on the weekends (War Eagle!).
