Amanda Stewart, Head Band Director – Flute & Bassoon
B.A. – Texas Woman’s University
Ms. Stewart earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music degree at Texas Woman’s University. During her career, she student taught with Mansfield ISD and was the Assistant Band Director at Eastern Hills and Union Grove Middles Schools in Killeen ISD. At both campuses Ms. Stewart worked diligently with the Non-varsity and Sub Non-Varsity bands to enhance musicianship. In the 3 years she was in Killeen ISD, her non-varsity and sub non-varsity bands at UGMS received Superior ratings at UIL contest. Her Non-varsity band at EHMS worked hard for two years to finally be able to participate in UIL contest for the first time in over 20 years and continued to grow from there. While in Killeen, she also participated in the Harker Heights Community Band as a bassoon player.
In her first Head Director position here at Poly HS in 2018, the marching band received a rating of Excellent at UIL Marching Contest. She is working on growing the program and returning it to its former glory, as well as continuing a tradition of excellence and superior musicianship.
When not at school or in rehearsal, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Jasper, their fur baby Salem, family, and friends.
