Mr. Justin Edwards

Justin Edwards enters his first year as principal of Morningside Middle School.  He came to Morningside from the Young Men’s Leadership Academy, where he served as Dean of Instruction since 2015.  Mr. Edwards joined the Fort Worth ISD in 2010 as an 8th grade math teacher at William James Middle School for 3 years.  After teaching math for 3 years, Mr. Edwards transitioned out of the classroom to become the Data Analyst & Testing Coordinator at Southwest High School in 2013 and in the following year was appointed Assistant Principal at Southwest High School.

 

Mr. Edwards grew up in Detroit, MI and received an athletic scholarship to play basketball at Southeastern Louisiana University from 2003-2005.  He graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2012.  Mr. Edwards has been married for 5 years and his wife Amber is a teacher in Fort Worth ISD.

Mr. Damon Sumner

Mr. Damon Sumner is thrilled to be the Assistant Principal at Morningside Middle School. Mr. Sumner began working as a substitute teacher in 2007 and quickly realized how much he loved teaching children.

He attended Texas Wesleyan University and received his Bachelor’s degree in Sports medicine. He received his Master’s degree from Kaplan University in Education and is currently enrolled at Concordia University for his Doctorate in Educational Leadership.

Mr. Sumner believes a collaborative school environment is the key to creating successful teachers and students. He also believes partnerships with parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experience at Morningside Middle School. Mr. Sumner looks forward to serving each child and working with every parent to build a better tomorrow.

Dr. Rhonda McGuire

Dr. McGuire is serving in her 17th year year in education and in Fort Worth ISD. She has worked as a classroom teacher, data analyst, instructional coach, Dean of Instruction and assistant principal, most recently at McCLung Middle School before coming to Morningside. Dr. McGuire earned her Bachelors degree in Education from the University of North Texas, a Masters degree in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Texas at Arlington, and her Doctorate in Education with a focus on Educational Leadership from Lamar University.
