Karen Deshotels, DMS Counselor (K-8)
Hello! My name is Karen DesHotels and I am thrilled to serve as your school counselor! This is my 22nd year in education and 16th year in counseling. I truly believe that I have the best job in the world and love supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic growth. Prior to coming to Daggett Montessori School, I was at Westlake Academy for 8 years followed by working in the community to assist the elderly in finding assisted living. I love the field of counseling and a few of my professional interest areas are: mindset, personal strengths, healthy interpersonal relationships, and resilience. I love teaching students the power of a growth mindset and how to create and nurture healthy relationships with those around them.
I graduated with a B.S. from Texas A&M University and then attended the University of North Texas for their top ranked counseling graduate program where I earned my M.Ed. in school counseling. As a lifelong learner, I am actively engaged in professional organizations and ongoing training. I have been fortunate to attend many educational conferences including International Baccalaureate training in New York City. I strive to develop a counseling program that is relevant, practical, and best serves our students and school community.
I am so excited to join the Daggett Montessori family and look forward to getting to know your family! I grew up in Fort Worth, and graduated from Paschal High School. I live in Keller with my husband, three kids, dogs, cats, and a horse. We love traveling, spending time outdoors, and attending my son's baseball events.
