Jacquet Middle School's 8th Annual Mother Daughter Breakfast was held November 16 featuring Jacquet's female students and their female parent or loved one. The mother/daughter breakfast originated from the need to show our female students at Dunbar Middle School (currently Jacquet Middle School) that they are valued and loved by family, friends, teachers and the Stop Six community. The project just celebrating our 8th year involves collectively engaging female mentors (mothers, grand-mothers, aunts, teachers, community leaders, etc.) to share personal experiences that have empowered them to overcome life’s obstacles. The key-note speakers are selected from the Stop Six community and asked to convey a strength-based message that is uplifting. The message that we try to get across to our students and parents is that by believing in yourself and using education as the vessel, they can overcome any challenge and find their place in this world.
