Steers Varsity Tennis 2018-2019

  • March 2018

North Side Tennis took home several medals in the Ft. Worth City Championships tournament.
We took 3rd and 4th in Boys Doubles
    4th in Mixed Doubles
2nd and 4th in Girls Doubles
Our top performers, Janet Mascorro and Rebeca Torres, have a great shot at making 1st or 2nd at our district tournament this week and going on to Regionals!
  • North Side Tennis performed well in our 1st Spring tournament.

Please congratulate these student athletes for their standout performances.

Jesus Rios - 4th in Boys Singles

Janet Mascorro & Rebeca Torres - 1st in Girls Doubles (Consolation Bracket)

Our next match is Friday evening; a triangle match with Poly and OD Wyatt.

District Play 2018

  • We played three 3rd Place matches today and won two of them!

The biggest surprise is our Girls Doubles team, Janet Mascorro and freshman Rebeca Torres, that knocked off the #1 seed Arlington Heights in the 2nd round.  They then beat a tough Southwest team that had them down 1-4 in one of their sets, but they came back to win 6-4.  This guaranteed them 3rd and they had a chance to play for 2nd.  Their last match against the number 2 seed South Hills looked grim, but they split sets 1-6, 6-4 to keep them on their toes.  They lost the 3rd and final set but won the respect of several coaches and players in attendance.

I am very proud of the team this year and a special congratulations goes out to these district medalists.

    Ruby Soto- 3rd Girls Singles

Janet Mascorro/ Rebeca Torres - 3rd Girls Doubles

Justino Sandoval/ Paola Mendoza - 4th Mixed Doubles
