Mrs. Guadalupe Barreto

Principal

Mrs. Barreto started her career in education with FWISD and has been dedicated to closing the achievement gap for our students for nearly 40 years.  Her studies and research have focused on best practices in language acquisition.  As a former Bilingual/ESL Teacher, she discovered that her students were very gifted and honed on practices that led her to develop staff development for teachers.  She delivered  the trainings through the Bilingual/ESL Department and as a Consultant in various districts in the Metroplex.

Several years later, she became the Director for Elementary ESL which provided her the opportunity to service a large population of language learners from all over the world.

In 2013, she was appointed to the principalship and given the opportunity to develop and plan the first secondary language school in FWISD now better known as World Languages Institute.

Mrs. Barreto has the philosophy to enjoy her work as related in the Chinese Proverb - "If you enjoy what you do, you will not work another day in your life."

Her work in the field has given her the opportunity to be an Adjunct Professor for Texas Christian University and Texas Wesleyan University.

Outside of work, Mrs. Barreto enjoys gatherings with family and friends, going to the movies, traveling, playing with her five beautiful grandchildren, working around her yard and reading a good book on a rainy day!

Her professional signature includes the following: "Learning flourishes where diversity is valued"
