Woohoo! Kudos! On Saturday, over 50 of our vocal music and piano apprentices competed in the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest hosted on our campus. These students did an outstanding job representing our school in their performances and in their hospitality while working the event. Each performance was adjudicated, and performers were given a rating between I-V with I (Superior) being the highest score. Additionally, 26 vocal music students and 3 piano students qualified for the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest, which will take place in Austin at the end of May.If you see these students this week, please congratulate them on a job well done!PIANO PERFORMANCESSuperior Ratings (I) Asterisk (*) denotes state qualifiers.*Zachary CusanoArin Dominguez*Macie Raines*Frederic SitumorangExcellent Ratings (II)Freedom SwineyAdalyn WarrenVOCAL PERFORMANCESSuperior Ratings (I) Asterisk (*) denotes state qualifiers.Sophia Aceves*Ellie Bernard*Kendall Brigance*Destiny Burgess*Katherine Burns*Jiles Clark*Yundre Evans*Curtis Heedley*Aubrey Henderson*Kai Hernandez*Makiah HollisMaliya Hollis*Cole Irwin*Cooper IrwinIsis JuarezJosie Juarez*Anika JunkerTealy Kaiser*Jessica Kelly*Meirah Koenig*Aubrey Lemons*Ava McCainAllee Moore*Brady Moore*Hannah Morris*Grace Nguyen*Glenn NixonBarrett OusleyAmanda PavonJaxson Plihal*M'Kayla Rice*Joselyn RosalesNola Seegal*Marianne Serworwora*Mei Simmons*Q Thomas*ENSEMBLE - Ellie Bernard, Aubrey Henderson, Anika Junker,Jessica Kelly, Meirah Koenig, Joselyn RosalesENSEMBLE - Ava McCain, Grace Nguyen, Milian NguyenExcellent Ratings (II)Margaret HaleAzael HernandezPatience MontoyaMilian Nguyen

Greetings Terrell Family,This is a reminder that the following students will be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania March 1-5, 2023 to participate in the National High School Dance Festival.A little context: The largest dance festival in the United States Showcasing High School Dance Programming is National High School Dance Festival, hosted at Point Park University, in Pittsburgh, PA. We, as a district, have had many opportunities to perform at the festival in their daily performance slots. However, for the first time in Fort Worth ISD history we have been invited to not just perform at the festival, but specifically to perform in the Gala Evening Performance, which is the highest honor of the festival, performing on the main stage in front of 2,000 dance students from all over the world! The Terrell Dance Ensemble will be performing 2 works, "On Her Boat," choreographed by Megan Storey of Bruce Wood Dance at Friday night's Gala and "Watching You, Watching Me" choreographed by Chad Vaught on Saturday nights' evening Showcase.Terrell Dance is making FWISD Dance HISTORY! As the discipline of dance doesn't have UIL benchmarks, this is an equivalent. The fact that our dancers are performing in the Gala Performance, shows that their learning, in various dance techniques, is at the highest capacity.Let's celebrate the hard work of our Terrell Dance Apprentices, who have climbed some of the highest heights to put our district's arts programs on the national map!

I wanted to share some great news with you. Our Non-Varsity Orchestra went to UIL Contest this morning and I am thrilled to let you know that that they received a superior rating from ALL judges in both their concert and sight-reading performances. These students have worked incredibly hard this year to become one of the highest performing Non-Varsity Ensembles in our Region. (They actually performed the level of program required of our varsity ensemble.)Special recognition needs to go to their INCREDIBLE director, Veronica Schramm, on her tireless efforts and consistent mentoring/nurturing spirit. She is truly an absolute treasure for our campus and is someone that I feel needs to be celebrated for all that she does not only for our instrumental music students, but our campus as a whole.Hunter LewisDirector of Instrumental Music

Congratulations!!Mrs. Soknich, Mrs. Schramm, and Mr. Lewis would like to share some incredible news with you. This weekend saw history being made for the I.M. Terrell Music Department!!! Students from our Instrumental and Vocal Music Departments competed for a spot to be a TMEA All-State Musician. We are pleased to announce that EIGHT of our fantastic students achieved this monumental achievement. This is an incredibly difficult feat and is a testament to these students' work ethic, tenacity, and grit. It is also a FWISD record for the number of All-State Students to come from a single campus.FWISD had 23 students from across the district place in and All-State Ensemble. This being said, I.M. Terrell accounts for ONE-THIRD of the entire districts All-State Students while having a student body about ONE-FOURTH the size of our sister campuses. We are incredibly proud of these students and their accomplishments and can't wait for each of them to have the life changing experiences of performing as an All-State Musician at the Texas Music Educators Convention in San Antonio later this February.I.M.
