Devona Burgess

Devona Burgess hails from Riverside, Ca, receiving her bachelor’s degree from CSU Stanislaus. Ms. Burgess also has a master’s degree from Capella University and received her Principal certification from Lamar University.

Ms. Burgess has twenty years of experience in education. She served as a Special Education teacher in California for five years. Her additional years have been spent right here in FWISD. Ms. Burgess has served as a Pre-K teacher, Early Childhood Specialist, Title I teacher, Data Analyst, Dean of Instruction, Assistant Principal and now Principal of Edward J. Briscoe Elementary.

Ms. Burgess’ personal goals for Briscoe are to improve student achievement through collective, team-based approaches, direct lines of communication, and thorough planning.

Charlene Louis

Charlene Louis, a Forth Worth native, received her bachelor’s degree from UT Austin. Mrs. Louis also holds a master’s degree from UT Arlington and received her Principal certification from Texas Wesleyan University.

Entering her twentieth year in education, she has served as an Early Learning specialist, Texas Literacy Initiative specialist and a curriculum writer in neighboring school districts around the DFW area. However, the majority of her experience has been in FWISD. She began her career in education as a first grade teacher at D. McRae Elementary. Additional experiences include: Texas Reading First coach, FWISD Literacy coach, Data Analyst and now Assistant Principal of Edward J. Briscoe Elementary.

Mrs. Louis’ personal goals for Briscoe are to work collaboratively with her school and the community to help students achieve their greatest potential.
