Shannon Stivison teaches the Art elective. This is Stivison’s second year of teaching at McLean Sixth Grade. Her favorite part of teaching is teaching kids about things they didn’t know. It makes her feel good that they go to her and they have mutual trust.
“Kids need people in their lives that they can come to and talk that might not be in their family,” Stivison said.
Stivison attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello and graduated from Texas Wesleyan University. She earned a degree in liberal studies with a concentration of art and psychology.
Stivison was inspired to become a teacher when she was in high school. She always liked school and kids, and she wanted to teach kids how to appreciate art and how it affects their everyday life.
